Welcome to Anne O'Hoy's 2012 'Raw Nerve' winning short film project, produced in conjunction with Open Channel and Screen Australia.
It began as a scribble on a coaster: a few words about a sad man. Then the coasters multiplied, resembling a narrative shape, and Anne's first ever short film screenplay was born. She was thrilled to discover that people really enjoyed the story, and the script went on to win a little start-up money from RMIT, to then become one of three Open Channel 'Raw Nerve' winners.
(You can read about the 'Raw Nerve' Initiative here: http://www.openchannel.org.au/support_rawnerve.htm...)
With enthusiastic Industry support and a talented cast and crew to boot, including ACS double award winning Director of Photography Giovanni Lorusso and renowned TV, Screen and Theatre actor Bert Labonte, Anne (la Writer / Director) and Holly (la Producer) are confident they have a special project in their hands. Now they're calling on supporters, old and new, to help fund them through the post production stage so that the film can enter the festival circuit as a strong contender.
THE STORY
If you don't have the Fantasy, what are you left with? Ashane is a taxi driver, or an unskilled immigrant who charges too much and always goes the long route. It's an unshakable stigma and it packs a punch when your identity feels like it's slipping as a result.
Something has to change if the highlight of your day is a passenger giving exact change, and Ashane wants his identity back. So, where does he go to find it? His dark place,
In Fantasy.
In Fantasy is a story about finding humanity and our sense of self in a world jaded by preconception.
And it's a story we'd like to share with you.
Thank You
We believe we have the ingredients for a successful short film: we have a
wonderful tragic-comedic script and a professional production team. You
will be helping passionate film-makers weave together something real
special for festival circulation. And if that's not enough - just think
about how proud your future grand kids will be when you sit them down
and tell them about the honorable role you played in a promising little
film production.
With many thanks,
Holly Muir Anne O'Hoy
