Inspired by a dancing hero...

On Tuesday 5 March I awoke to the news that Keith Flint of The Prodigy had been found dead at his home.

It was apt that my older brother alerted me to this news from the other side of the world, since it was with him that I first saw The Prodigy perform in Essex in 1993 when I was 17. I’m 42 now, and looking back I’ve seen The Prodigy play many, many times in crowded dance tents, on main stages of festivals, in venues around the world including Sydney.  

As a fan of Keith’s energy, ferociousness and his sense of humour, Keith’s passing saddened me and, as my older brother said, it is really sad for his family and friends.

Over the last few weeks I have quietly reflected on how The Prodigy, and Keith, have left an impression on me that I carry into my life today as a middle-aged man. May he rest in peace.

Deaths by suicide are a tragedy. It is my understanding that many of those who pass this way do not want to die, they just want their pain to stop. 

None of us knows what is going on behind someone’s smile…. unless we talk directly about it. I would like to be able to help others to reach out to their loved ones - their mates, their brothers and sisters, whoever it is - and let them know it would be ok for them to talk to about suicide.

By creating these Keith-Flint-inspired rings, I hope we can INSTIGATE new conversations and keep some fires lit for much, much longer.

Each time one is worn and chatted about - it is an opportunity to save a life. By reducing the stigma associated with mental health and by preventing someone in pain feeling isolated, each ring has the pontential to be a mind detonator.  I hope this that respectfully honours a man who has inspired me, from a band who's music I will always be grateful for.

You can help me to fund the first ever production run of rings

It is my hope that Instigator rings can be distribted via a web-based service. A service that despatches rings to people who want to wear them or distribute them as "Warriors" from their hometown. For the website - I need to show the product. To show the product - I have to order the first batch because they’ve never existed before. 

Your support will help me launch the distribution of Instigator rings and give me the confidence to know this is not a daft idea.  They will be green, silicon, and have the word “Instigator” will be embossed around the outside.

Ideas are worthless unless you get them out of your head and see what they can do.

You can help me make the Instigator rings a reality.

To receive the first examples of the rings - I need to pay for new moulds and the first production runs.

So far I have needed to pay for the really awesome 3-D renders of what the rings would look like.

I can set up the website easily enough. I'll spend more time on that as the crowdfunding gets underway.

I am looking to place minimum order of 1,000 in three sizes. The total cost comes to $3,300.00.

I believe crowdfunding is more than just a way to collect some cash. It is a way to test whether people such as you actually want Instigator rings. 

Of course I want my backers to receive the first ever rings as rewards. So they will be shared with you in a limited edition box that will not be repeated after this crowdfunding project.  Total costs including boxes, and informaton flyers about how to instigate conversations all come to $6,810.00.

I will do all folding / inserting into boxes myself but will use a third party postage service, as they offer tracking and insurance.
