Hi all,

Over the past four years I have been, with a pinch of procrastination and a sprinkle of perfectionism, quietly working on a number of songs. You can hear a sample of a few of them in the video above.

Um, whaaat?

Yep. On the back shelf of my mind cupboard, I had always stored a distant desire to record an album, and in 2014 - almost by accident - found myself in the perfect position to write one. I started writing and recording new songs, bringing in and polishing up older ones that had been floating around my dusty instruments for (in one instance) more than 22 years, and before long I had a little over an album's length of material. 

The intervening time has been spent in equal parts second guessing, tweaking, doubting and fixing, but finally here we are. Fourteen songs released under the moniker: Apostrophe and Rye.

But Paulie, can you even sing... n stuff?

Some of my closest friends would be, and have been, surprised to learn that I had any such desire, or any real musical skills to speak of. And while I harbour no real desire to pursue a career in music, I have grown to love these little ditties quite a lot. I hope you enjoy them too.

All of it was recorded, performed and engineered by me in bedrooms and studies around Melbourne, with an old desktop computer, an even older guitar, an average digital piano and the wonders of modern software to make it all sound profesh. The result, I've been told, is a little like the love child of Nick Drake, Jose Gonzalez, Asgeir and even a momentary sprinkling of a young (heavily bearded) Enya... Wow, that is a complicated love child...

Intriguing. But you know I only spin the black circle, bro.

Funny you should mention. Because of the wonderful resurgence of interest in vinyl, because I've always loved them, and because doing so would make me feel like an adult somehow, I'm going to release them on a good old long-playing record, as well as digital.

Of course, vinyl is not the cheapest medium in the world, especially if you want it done right, so I've decided to out myself as a musician and ask for your help with the pressing.  Your support would take a huge straw off the camel's back.

Word. What treats do I get?

For those of you that buy the vinyl, you will also get a digital download of the full album, plus a couple of bonus songs that wouldn't quite fit on the record.
