Hey everyone!!

So we're making a short film for Tropfest. As we are poor, poor young struggling filmmakers, we need your help!

Let me tell you a bit about the inspiration for the short. Growing up as an LGBTIQ person there's always that dreaded day where society tells you that you need to 'come out'. It's daunting, and you never really know how the reception of those around you is going to be. Sometimes you're 'accepted', sometimes you're disowned. Receptions aside though, coming out is plagued with so many ill feelings and it really should not be that way. LGBTIQ persons shouldn't be conditioned to one day have to announce their sexuality to the world. And this is where the main inspiration has come from.  Using the 2018 Tropfest Signature Item of ROSE!, the film aims to challenge the rhetoric of coming out.

Another main influence of the film is working class Australia. Think 'The Block' meets 'Muriel's Wedding'.

So now, let's talk the premise. Backyard Reveals is a comedy that follows the character of Sam as he prepares to tell his parents the dark secret he has been holding onto.

We'd really love to reach our goal and bring a bit of queer cinema to Tropfest.

Much Love xxx

Budget Overview

The money donated would be used for a variety of things.

1) Equipment. This is a huge one. In order to create the vision we have for the film, we need to be able to hire the right equipment. $500

2) Location Hire $200

3) Catering. This will be provided for all days of filming. $300

4) Editing. $300

5) Future festival submissions. $200

Potential Challenges

The main challenge we're facing is our locations. We're looking at filming at a particular house which comes at a cost of $200. This can be overcome if we reach our goal.
