Hello this is Danielle and Tanya from Corn Nut Creek. Thanks for visiting our Pozible campaign! We are a couple of storytellers who write Appalachian-infused folk music, hailing from New York and Melbourne. We have just completed our first full-length studio album "Hearts in Bloom" and we want you to help us bring it to the world. The album was born out of our personal, transformative journeys other recent challenging years. The album’s themes cover embracing your true self and honoring a deep connection with the natural world.

The first track “Hearts in Bloom” was recorded in 2021 at Kimberley Wheeler’s studio in between Covid-19 lockdowns, which eventually put the entire project on hold until 2022. When we restarted recording, we found our vision and style had evolved and in 2023 we scrapped all but one track and started over at Echidna Studios in Christmas Hills, VIC with Mischa Hermann as our recording engineer. Guests such as Pepita Emmerichs, James Church, Justin Olsson, Zac Barter, Vinny Russell, Justin Bernasconi, and Justin Vilchez were invited to join us alongside Kimberley Wheeler, who has continued as an important part of our project.

Our project has materialised over the past few months, fulfilling every all our hopes and dreams, which were almost dashed over the pandemic years. Making this album was a challenge, but we feel blessed by the transformation and growth it has offered us and our music reflects that journey.

The story of Corn Nut Creek is a special one, but hey – we’re probably a little biased… 

Fate brought us together in 2011, when we were teaching music in Hong Kong and looking for people to play traditional American music with. Danielle had put an ad out on Gumtree, which Tanya responded – the rest is history.

We both eventually parted ways and moved to our respective home countries and for the next four years continued to speak every day. Our songwriting relationship began long distance! It was such a beautiful way to stay connected while separated by 9,000 miles. We never believed we would live together again in the same country and perform these songs live.

Our friendship meant we never walked alone in difficult times –  we were always there to support one another in the tough times and watch the other shine during the good times.  About four years after returning to New York, Danielle’s Australian husband wanted to return home and she soon found herself downunder, and motivated by the opportunity to continue this wonderful musical sisterhood.

Since Danielle’s arrival in 2018, we have written and recorded our debut EP, “Feels Like Travelling Home,” which was chosen as a finalist and top five juror’s pick at the Blues & Roots Radio International’s Song Contest in 2020. We were also featured with an exclusive interview on Felicity Urquhart’s Saturday Night Country on ABC Country (AU) as well as with IBMA broadcaster of the year Mike Kear on his show Music From Foggy Hollow on Bluegrass Country Radio (USA).

Our music has also been featured on the International Americana Radio Show (US), the late Charles Christian’s Americana Radio Show (UK), Brad Kolodner’s Old Time Jam (US), Jan Dale’s Southern Style (AU), Amy Campbell’s Sweetgrass on WDVX (US), Bluegrass Jamboree (US), Mike Crozier’s Australian Country, among many others. Tanya’s fiddle tune Chicken in the Kitchen even helped us receive an honorable mention in the Berkeley Old Time Music Association’s 2020 String Band Contest. So far, the singles from the new album “Hearts in Bloom” have made a splash, landing us a feature on Country Queer (US), The Alternate Root (US), The Sound Cafe (CAN), and a finalist position in the Unsigned Only songwriting competition.

We're about to mix and master the album and we would greatly appreciate your help.  Our target goal is to raise $4,000 to help cover a small fraction of these costs (which was about $10,000). This can be in the form of a CD PREORDER, among many other donation levels with some really cool merchandise and other extras like house concerts, lessons and workshops to thank you for supporting our music and our vision.
