Alt-country band Cotton Pony emerged semi-formed and fully fearful from the swamplands of Invermay, Launceston, Tasmania, when Megan Philippa Q. Pennyfeather found herself castaway on the Isle of Apples without a father. It would turn out in a way as a kind of homecoming- not just because the bones of her convict ancestor were working their way out of the ground in a churchyard in nearby Evandale. Launceston opened its arms and heart, and she found solace in a warm community of ruby-tube drinking, guitar toting, leftie leaning deliquents. 

Daddo, Dadski, The Old So and So

There were women here - pushing their way to the front boldly and saying 'come on friend, what do you have to lose'? And it was true, there wasn't anything much left for losing. Suddenly, the reasons not to do the thing that she coveted most in her heart of hearts were far outweighed by the need to take a leap of faith.

First ever gig! The birth of CP! Since that first sweaty palmed performance at a certain floof's birthday in November 2016, fears have been chased down and wrestled into some semblance of joy.

With help from many a new and shiny friend, through several iterations (and bass players), extreme self doubt, heartbreak, amazing opportunities, furious songwriting as the floodgates opened and perhaps one or two bottles of fine whisky, Miss Pennyfeather with Messrs. T.W Willis, Lurkin J Durkin and Cam 'Chuckles' Jagoe now find themselves poised on the brink of their first EP release and tour!

The wonderful and talented fellows of AlfanAnt (that being Alf and Ant), decided to tuck us under their respective wings and lead us towards that Promised Land - the land of milk and honey, that fabled MAINLAND, where they have procured many a show from Old Melbourne Town all the way to Brisvegas!

So we'll be heading far north of our fair isle on our musical misdventure, lugging much gear into the February heat, to play gigs for little pay. There is no reward without risk friends! One day we will all shrug off this mortal coil, and if you can somehow bring something in to being that was not there before, if that something can touch just one person, if you can connect in some way in a time or place where connections seem to be at a premium, then HECKFIRE, sign us up. 

After a solid year of gigging and saving, we are poised! The recording is recorded by Jamie Stacey and our own Lurkin J! The mix is being mixed by the very same! The mastering shall be masterfully mastered by King Willy Sound! The artwork is being arted by the amazing Bianca Jagoe! Sadly enthusiasm and a jaunty hat will only get you so far in these trying times for the arts, and thus, here we stand, jaunty hats in hands, asking you, friends, family and countrypeoples, for a leg up and over the pond.  

Of course, we realise in this climate of austerity (and in this actual climate!) that there are many a fine and worthy cause to put your pennies to, leastways keeping your own cupboard from scarcity. So if you don't find yourself in a position to pledge, we're still mighty grateful for the love and support that has been flung our way, and we'd be more grateful still if you could share this campaign with those you hold dear!

With our gig savings and current contributions we're covering the cost of:

- Recording/mixing/mastering 5 tracks

- CD artwork design

- CD production 

- Merch design (patch, sticker, high quality poster, download code postcard)

- Merch production

- T-shirt purchase (ethical and sustainable, and we're doing our own screenprinting!

- Flights and Tassie ferry 

This campaign aims to help fund:

- Van or large car hire Melbs to Brissie

- Fuel costs (1 vehicle Tassie to Brissie and back a cool 3800km, one vehicle Melbs to Brissie 1700km)

- Accomodation (when we can't crash land with friends of friends/ other bands/ total strangers)

- Nourishment as remaining budget allows!
