Here at Crooked Fiddle HQ, we've been busy concocting a new album. We can't wait to show to you, but first we need your help getting it ready for the world. Pre-order the album or grab one of our other rewards to make it happen!

It's been years since our second album, and in that time we've toured Australia 3 times, toured Europe, released a couple of singles, played many of our favourite festivals, and produced 4 real life babies. (Not as a band, the babies were extra-curricular events, we assure you).
The thing we love doing is making musical stories - soundtracks to daydreams, whether you're dancing maniacally at festivals with us or sitting in a darkened room. So for the past 2 years we've been pooling these stories, finding those snippets of melodies and riffs, and finding the common threads to make them into fully fledged tunes.

And through the process, a theme kept emerging: climate change. We've touched on the topic before - most crooked releases have something to do with nature - but this one felt inescapable. Lyrics kept cropping up about seas, warnings and togetherness. Melodies kept swirling and forming narratives about change and disaster. It's all come together in our biggest album to date: our hopes, our frustrations with climate policy, from apocalyptic soundscapes to undead ballroom dances, it's all in there.

How does an acoustic folk band realise our not-so-secret aspirations to bigger sounds? By enlisting an engineer who balances an attention to detail with a background in hardcore punk: Clayton Segelov. We've been wanting to collaborate with Clay for years, and we're proud of the results.

We're nearly completed the project, but need your help to get it over the line. We're a completely independent band: self-funded, self-released and self-managed. And having been around for 13 years now (we can't believe it either!) we've proven our staying power.

The combination of taking time to work on our new tunes and some time out for raising our families along the way means we've been able to pay for our recording - 9 days tracking, 7 days overdubbing, and guest musicians.

But we're sure you know that recording is far from the last step in the process! From here we need to mix and master the album, press it, and engage in enough promo to let the world know that a little band from Sydney is still alive and kicking harder than ever.

That's where you come in - we'd love you to be a part of it! Preorder the new album, help us clear out the last copies of our existing albums, or grab one of the one-off rewards. It'll make these last steps happen and get new music out of the studio and into your ears - and hopefully everyone's ears!

Thanks for supporting original, independent and downright weird music. We literally couldn't do it without you.

Love from Jess, Gordon, Mark & Joe,

tCFB

Gordon's Original tCFB Guitar!

Take home Gordon's original battleaxe, his trusty Takamine EN10NW dreadnought acoustic. It has a focused, biting tone as needed for chainsaw folk, but would suit anyone who wants their acoustic to cut through a band. Top = solid cedar, back&sides = mahogany, fretboard = rosewood. Fitted with under bridge pickup & onboard preamp with eq and tuner. Transparent scratch plate added after deep scratches started to get out of hand, mainly caused by the drop in 'The Butcher of Bessarabia' !

Gordon's bouzouki

Gordon is offering up his bouzouki - as seen in the Rom Rebellion film clip - that he played on everything we recorded up to 'Overgrown Tales'. Made in 1982 by shipbuilder / luthier (oh, what a slashie!) John E Telling from Royal Tunbridge Wells, England (just down from Biggin Hill, west of Headcorn & south of Snodland), it's been around the world with us three times, and features genuine Gordon sweat (everything else has been hygienically removed). It has a pickup and hard case.
