WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CROWDFUND PRINTING COSTS
Purchase a presale book for $50 (AUD) and help us cover our printing costs. The Stencil Art Prize 10 Year Anniversary book will feature 200 stencil artists and their artworks that have exhibited in the Prize over the past decade. The Stencil Art Prize is the only touring exhibition of its kind in the world.
Through CUT: 10 Years of the Stencil Art Prize we will tell the story of our artists, how their art has evolved over the years and how the Stencil Art Prize has grown and developed.
We need your help to raise money through book presales to cover the cost of printing the book.
Check out Jacinta's pitch in the video above.
WHAT WILL THE BOOK LOOK LIKE?
At $50 bucks it will be a high quality pictorial coffee table book with a generous size (28cm x 23 cm) and approximately 140 pages. CUT will feature hundreds of full colour stencil artworks. Plus profiles of some of your favourite artists.
BENEFITS FOR ARTISTS
Much of our network and crowdfunding will be done through our community of artists. When you purchase a presale you can choose to nominate an artist (see list below) and ensure they get additional space in the book.
10 presales in an artist's name = ¼ page dedicated artist profile
20 presales in an artist's name – ½ page dedicated artist profile
You can also gift a profile to an artist by purchasing an Artist Profile Gift, as part of the three sponsorship rewards.

WHY PUBLISH THIS BOOK?
Our 200 artists and their artworks will take pride of place in this one-of-a-kind publication.
Jacinta from the Stencil Art Prize and Rachel and Pete from (Not Quite Newtown – an independent DIY publisher) are pitching in together to write, collate, edit, design and publish this book through sheer love, sweat, tears and coffee because we truly believe there is a legacy that has been built over the past decade. A legacy that deserves to be captured in print for future generations. One that has been built by hundreds of artists that have come together as the Stencil Art Prize global community.
WHY SELF PUBLISH WITH AN INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER?
As a grass roots community our artists are edgy, socially aware, political, cheeky, anarchistic, curious and bold. CUT will capture the statements made by our artists through their artworks. Statements that are generally overlooked by the mainstream media. Self-publishing means that we won’t be asked to censor or filter our content.
HELP US RAISE $15,000 TO COVER PRINTING COSTS
With your help we can make CUT a reality by crowdfunding $15,000. Funds raised will be used to cover the printing costs of the book and to fulfil crowdfunding obligations (such as sending you your printed book or book and bag etc.)
Anything over this number, particularly if we get to $20,000 means we’ll be able to print more copies, make the book bigger, hold a larger book launch and run a big PR campaign to get the word out about CUT.
Budget Overview
OUR EXPENSES
To commercially publish this book would incur huge printing, design, copywriting, editing, legal, marketing and promotional costs which would in turn have to be recouped by a higher selling price. It’s unlikely that a commercial publisher would take a chance on such a niche book. We want our book to be affordable for our global creative community – and we aren’t prepared to compromise on the content.
Commercial printing costs would look like this:
Printing $20,000
Design $10,000
Copywriting and Editing $4,000
Legals $4000
Marketing and Promotion: $9,000
Launch Costs $3000
Totalling: $50,000
We’re doing it for less than half this amount! However the printing costs require cold hard cash and this is where you can help us by purchasing a presale book.
With your help, through buying a presale or sponsoring the book, we can guarantee that the publication gets printed and the purchase price is an affordable $50 (AUD).
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about CUT, and we hope you can support our project.
Jacinta, Rachel and Pete
