Help Us Make New Music Pozible

It's been 2 years since my last EP and i'm so stoked the next one is nearly ready for your earholes!

I'm joined on this project by a village of incredible humans and musicians, and the music has really come to life and stirred a fire in my belly :)

It's been a heck of a ride to get to this point - check out the video to hear my story.

How The Funds Will Be Used

These funds will be used to pay off the remainding debt i've found myself in from making music with friends. I'm a big believer of paying people for their work, and getting 7 people to Melbourne cost a little more than expected.

The entire project budget looks like :

$3300 Travel and Accomodation for The Band (7 of us sure come expensive!)

$1800 Session Fees (Because I believe in paying my people for their work).

$3300 Producer

$450 Mastering

$1600 Manufacturing

$2000 Publicity

TOTAL $12,450 before touring.

Marty Brown  (Producer)

Marty Brown has now been drumming, producing and managing longer than he hasn’t. Over a long and successful career he has played in bands such as Art of Fighting (ARIA Winners – Best Alternative Release 2001), Sodastream, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set, Small Knives, Richard Easton, and Red Raku to name but a few. As a producer he has kept a firm commitment to analogue technology no matter what the cost. He has produced five Albums for Clare Bowditch (ARIA Winner – Best Female 2006), two for Red Raku, two for Jess McAvoy and has been at the helm for other projects involving Jen Cloher, The Lucksmiths, Tim Reid, Micaiah Zwartz, Clinkerfield and Sodastream. After years of being involved in the co-managing of Clare, he now is her full time music manager.

Crafty (Co-Writer, Guitar, Vocals)

Known in the music industry as ‘Crafty’, this SA-born musician/upcoming producer has a list of credits that is a testament to his far-reaching interests as someone who regularly undertakes both performing and behind-the-scenes duties on a bunch of instruments. Being onboard musically with Kelly is a welcomed addition to add to a list of past highlights such as: Dave Gleeson, Wendy Matthews, Laura Hill, The Secret Game, Close Call, Neo (NT)

Ali Foster (Drums, Percussion)

One of the very first female drummers accepted into The Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Jazz course, Ali Foster is a powerhouse on the kit she has worked with some of the countries finest including : Beccy Cole; Peter Northcote; Chris E Thomas; Jayne Denham; Funkstar; Ciaran Gribbin (INXS); Carmen Smith and Sebastian Thomas (Guy Sebastian); Amber Lawrence; Jason Owen (The Voice); Richie Vez (Diesel). Kasey Chambers, Troy Casser-Daley, Adam Harvey, The Drifters and many more.

Jenna Bonavita (Bass)

Jenna has been a professional musician for a number of years and worn many hats within the Arts: radio presenter, journalist/reviewer, composer, choirmaster, musical director, session musician, and teacher. Amongst the many highlights Jenna has performed at WOMADelaide, Vancouver Folk Music Festival (Canada) and Speyfest (UK), recorded with Eric Bogle and award-winning band Fruit, and was honoured with the SAMIA (South Australian Music Industry Association) award for 'Most Outstanding Bass Player'.

Melanie Watts (Backing Vocals)
Melanie has worked as a professional singer and dancer for over a decade and has performed in various bands, duets, cabaret acts and theatre shows in Adelaide and nationally. An all-rounder, Melanie is trained in tap, jazz and classical dance. Some of her work experience has included Adelaide two piece duos “Hoo Ha” and “Karma”, Vegas Viva Dolls, three-girl cabaret floorshow “Blondeshell”, Nighttrain touring show the Adelaide Rockaholics, “Songs that Make You Go MMM” (Adelaide Cabaret Festival) and Adelaide trio “The Vocal Vixens”. Melanie currently enjoys performing in 60s girl group “The Rubys” and freelances as a vocalist for local Adelaide artists.

Tania Savelli (Backing Vocals)

Tania has been working in the music industry for over a decade as a professional vocalist, performer and vocal coach. Some of her previous work includes regular performances with The Vocal Vixens, The Sisters Of Swing, Soul Inc and various freelance work with local Adelaide artists. Tania has also performed within Adelaide theatre companies and played Helen Of Troy in the Adelaide debut of Jon English's rock opera PARIS. She currently performs with her three time award winning vocal ensemble L'amour and continues to do freelance gigs and session singing.

Emily Smith (Guitar)

Graduating the Australian Country Music Academy in 2012, Emily has gone on to work with the likes of Beccy Cole, Harry Hookey, Kirsty Akers, Sasha March, Babes are Wolves,  Kelly Menhennett, Courtney Robb, Melody Moko, Jemma Nicole and Ben Ransom and tours regularly as a session guitarist.

The Challenges

I work 4 days a week teaching music and gig 2-3 times a weekend. With the nature of the arts, it's always a challenge making the ends meet when its time to invest in the next creative project and balance the extra work-load to prevent burn-out and the spiral that brings with it.

I'm determined to make this project happen ! Along with some help from the wonderful people at Arts SA i've managed to get everything into place and pay for most of it, but am now left with a giant debt hole which creates its own problem when it comes to actually promoting the record and finding ways to financially make touring viable.

My inner, free creative hippy says jump in the car and just go for it, see what happens.

My inner responsible adult says pay off all the things THEN go for it, make it happen without the shame.

So when you pre-order this EP, the support that comes with that means I can get these tunes out to the world AND recieve that much needed reminder that there's actually people out there who believe in me and want to hear these songs.

The fraud police are louder then ever in my head while the stereotypical lazy muso label is swirling its way through my mindset (even though I know I've worked my ass off the past couple months, it still feels weird to ask for help and not beat myself up for being un-able to manage this all on my own).

I can already feel the vulnerability hangover that comes with all of this ... but it would absolutley mean the world to me if you enjoy my music and want to hear these songs and are able to help in anyway :)
