I am Paul Boulton, and I have spent the last five years writing this book that guides parents, teachers, and caring adults in using my gentle and effective therapy-based version of Tapping, called Targeted EFT, with children in need.

Helping Kids Rise and Shine: A Tapping Guidebook for Stress, Anxiety, and Bullying is designed to help support and strengthen children aged seven to early teens, and beyond.

In the book, I explore the mental and emotional journey of children growing up with their parents and families, and other people, including children, who interact with them. Children may at times, experience stress, anxiety, abuse, bullying, depression, and overwhelm, even in the best of families. Chances are, you as well may have experienced some of these issues growing up?

I speak about the impact these issues have on children—not to place blame on the parents, but to acknowledge that these experiences are as common in homes across society now as they were in previous generations. 

For survival reasons, children will often take on the beliefs, fears, and issues of their parents and the significant people around them. Some children will also experience degrees of manipulation, control, abuse, rejection and neglect that can leave them feeling stressed, nervous, anxious, fearful and dissociated. This can lead to them, at times, developing unhealthy thoughts, habits and coping strategies that, if left unaddressed, may stay with them throughout their lives.

Helping Kids Rise and Shine offers insights and perspectives to help parents, teachers, and caring adults better understand what issues children may be carrying mentally and emotionally—and how to become part of the solution.

The book teaches a simple, yet powerful process called Targeted EFT Tapping, which can be used with children at home, in schools, or in any supportive environment.

My partner and I have invested thousands of dollars into the creation of this book so far. We have put our hearts, time, and resources into the writing, editing, design, publishing, and printing. We have also built the website and begun advertising and promotion.

We have invested in advertising, with our first ad appearing in the May/June 2025 edition of Foreword Reviews magazine (Volume 28, Number 3). Foreword Reviews is based in the US and connects booksellers and librarians with independently published books, and they have been doing this since 1998. This edition we adverstised in was also featured at the American Library Association Conference in Philadelphia, 26–30 June 2025 — the world’s largest library event.

We have also just invested in gaining an independent book review of our book through Foreword’s Clarion Reviews. As independent authors and publishers, we know how important it is to have a review that is recognised internationally in the industry. It gives confidence that our work meets a professional standard—and it also means that libraries can now consider purchasing our book. 

But we still have so much work to do to help this book reach children everywhere.
