Indefinable is a ten-minute reveal of what it is to identify as gender fluid, focusing on the story of Danni Touzel and Ryan Wright. Through their journey as identifying as gender fluid, the documentary looks at this label in relation to the art of drag. Both big names in Perth’s drag world, Danni Touzel identifies as Flo Reel, one of Perth’s only biological female drag queens, whilst Ryan Wright identifies as Katya Kokov, a traditional male to female queen. Through interviews, physical transformations and live performances, join us as we delve into the world of the Perth drag scene, through identifying as gender fluid.

FLO REEL is one of Perth’s only biologically female drag queens. Through interview we will get to know Flo, see her in action as door greeter at Connections Nightclub in Perth, watch her transform into Flo Reel, and learn about what it is to identify as gender fluid in a world of drag which consists of predominantly male-to-female drag queens. We are also exposed to Flo's struggle with alcoholism and how drag saved her from a deep depression, leading to the drag character of Flo Reel.

KATYA KOKOV is a popular drag queen regularly performing at both Connections and The Court in Perth. We are taken into Katya’s world through interview and see the transformation from alter ego to drag. We learn through this transformation that Katya is simply a more confident version of her other self, which we see through lip syncing performances at The Court.

PIP WALLER is the writer and co-producer of Indefinable. Whilst completing a double major of Screen Arts and Creative Writing at Curtin University, Pip was the screenwriter of season six of NITVs Noongar Dandjoo, and showcased her writing abilities in various other university projects. Pip's love of presenting controversial topics in her work, as well as encouraging audiences to face the at times harsh realities of being human, led to her discovery of the entire concept of being gender fluid, revealing just how little society knows about it. Her general obsession with drag queens including her love of popular tv show RuPaul's drag race, led to her original pitch of creating a documentary focusing on two, local drag queens in Perth who identify as neither male or female. As the writer of Indefinable, Pip hopes to present an engaging documentary that not only showcases the fantastic art that is drag, but to also provide inside into labels and stereotypes.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The Challenges
Our biggest challenge is sourcing licensed music for this life-story documentary. To be able to distribute this project across the internet (YouTube, podcasts, social media), film & theatrical releases (festivals), TV & radio (public broadcasting, shows), trade shows and showrooms nationally, we need to own all rights in perpetuity for licensed music.
This sourced music will be used during footage of our drag queens as they perform, bringing a realism to their stage shows, and a vibrance to the impact they have on their audiences.
Anything over target will be donated to an LGBTQI charity to further this documentary's message across the globe.
