My name is Josie Alec and I am the founder of The Jummi Factory. My business has been influenced by my age old traditional culture and a longing to bring it into the 21st century in a sustainable way. By making a consistent beneficial skin care product by using methods passed down to me by my Mother who was a traditional healer. Part of my vision of the business is to build the capacity to use innovative ways to sustainably grow, harvest and research the traditional plants I was taught to use. I also want to ensure that economic development is guaranteed for future generations to come by leading the way by example.

I have been offered a rare opportunity to be a participant on a trade delegation of Australian Indigenous business owners to Israel. I will be learning about agri-business, natural environment, life sciences, technology and innovation and community development. I am excited to represent my people and honour my elders and our culture by stepping outside the box and leaping into a big learning adventure such as this. The mission statement below speaks to exactly why I feel aligned to this delegation.
