Our Story

Hi! My name is Kim Wallace - I'm the founder of KW Ceramics, a boutique ceramics studio based in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland. Out of a modest space our team of four produce handmade, quality and meaningful wares that can be found in homes and restaurants across Australia and the world. 

With your help, I'm looking to expand my business and setup a new, larger studio space

. 

We have been in the same artist's studio (above my home) for the past 7 years. Over this time I have watched my business grow from just myself with one small workbench and a few blocks of clay, to a growing production pottery studio with 3 kilns and a full-time team of 4. 

To be able to pursue my passion for clay, whilst caring for my 3 children under the same roof has been a blessing, but we have reached a point where we have outgrown the studio and KW Ceramics has begun taking over my entire home. We have re-shuffled the space more times than I can count, but now we are really busting at the seams! 

This move has been in the works for a while, and I have spent hours calculating, budgeting and searching for the perfect space for us. Ideas are overflowing as are the shelves and workbenches! We have finally found the space, and so the time has come to finally take the leap ~ but we will need the help of our communtity to make the new studio a reality! 

Moving into a larger space will give us the opportunity to expand our handmade ceramics range and production, whilst keeping integrity and continuing to make each single piece in-house, by hand, using our beautiful Australian clays.

I have worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months towards this studio move. I've already invested heavily in studio equipment including new slip mixers and a slip pump, a brand new slab roller all the way from the USA, new (used) ware racks to handle increased production, lots of plaster moulds and a down payment on a new kiln that is 7 times the size of the first kiln I started with all those years ago.

Studio warehouse and showroom fit outs are expensive! 

To make this move happen, we will need to raise a minimum of $25,000 to go towards all listed below. Calculating the material and labour cost of the rewards themselves, this target is just a small portion of the actual estimated cost ~ the rest will be funded with my own personal investment.
