Help My Nightingale make and launch their new EP! They're a brand-spanking new indie-folk band comprised of four kick-ass musicians from extensive musical backgrounds. 

Award winning lead singer/songwriter, Elly Hoyt, grew up in the forests of Tasmania. She left her home at eighteen to study music and has been travelling and performing around the world ever since. 

While studying jazz in Boston, USA recently Elly discovered a poem by holocaust survivor Rose Ausländer that was dedicated to Ausländer’s mother. Struggling with depression and feeling the pull of her homeland, Elly was driven to start a band in honour of her own mother, her early music influences and the power of emotion. 

After returning to Brisbane, Australia in 2016, Elly (vocals/ukulele/guitar) joined forces with Beck Flatt (drums), Helen Svoboda (vocals/double bass) and Rebecca Karlen (vocals/violin). Within minutes of playing together, they all knew that this was something special. Thus My Nightingale was born.

Less than a year later, My Nightingale are recording their debut EP. This is something that is beyond exciting and with your help will catapult the band into the hearts and ears of music lovers around the world!

The EP will include six tracks with luscious harmonies and songs that give you the feels.

We've begun recording at Heaven Studios in Yamba and then a few days at Inky Studios in Byron Bay with the totally awesome Jordan Power. This legend has worked with and mixed, Xavier Rudd, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, U2, Powderfinger, The Wiggles, The Living End, Angus and Julia Stone to name a few.

It's not easy asking for help or favours, but when we believe in something as much as we do this band and what our music has to say, we think it’s important to tell others about it. By contributing, pre-ordering an EP, or even just promoting this Pozible campaign among your friends, you’re helping to create something that otherwise wouldn’t happen. We are a new band but with years of experience between us. Not only are you helping us immeasurably, you’ll be forever part of this project and a proud supporter of new music.

We are looking to raise funds to: (i) pay the producer/engineer (ii) pay for studio hire (iii) mix and master the album (iv) pay for album artwork & design (v) get CDs pressed (vi) pay for administration costs including Pozible fees, postage, packaging, printing of T-shirts and posters (vii) pay our new manager for promotion, bookings and publicity of the EP. 

Our (hopefully not too ambitious) target is $15,400. If the campaign is successful, the funds will be used as follows:

$4,000: Studio/Engineer/Producer 

$1,000: Mastering - This is the bit where the EP recording becomes shiny.

$1,400: EP Manufacturing – This is the pressing and printing of our shiny EP that will be in your hands very soon!

$2,000: This is for paying the members of My Nightingale. It's a nominal amount towards all the studio time, practice, rehearsals, song writing, travel and general lugging around of instruments for the 4 of us. We love this band but playing music is also how we make a living. 

$1,000: EP Artwork & Graphic Design - Elly's super-talented brother Dave Hoyt is the artist behind our beautiful cover design. It's his job too and we want to pay him! The awesome Simone Taylor is also designing the EP and T-shirt artwork ready for print. 

$1,000: Publicity - Our awesome manager Lara will promote the EP by helping us with publicity, booking gigs and our tour schedule. This means we get to play in a city near you! Stay tuned for tour dates via our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

$3,800: Reward Costs - We can't wait to get the T-shirts and Posters made. This is for the stock and to ship them to you (yep, postage is huge - over $2000 if we reach our target!)

$1,200: Pozible Service Fees - this is an awesome platform and guess what? - they don't do it for free!

After the EP is released in late 2017, My Nightingale intends to tour Australia. If we raise over the target of $15,400, excess funds will go towards travel, accommodation and other tour-related costs.

It's a big ask to raise this sort of money. We are relying a lot on your generosity. However, we am sure that you will love this music as much as we have loved creating it.

The musicians, artisits, audio engineers and others involved in this project are all at the top of their game. With such a great team, we're confident that this project will be relatively hassle-free. We have already begun the process and it's sounding incredible.

We completely understand if you are not in a position to contribute. A great way you could still help us out, without spending a cent, is to spread the word about our Pozible campaign. The more people who are aware of the project, the more likely that we will reach the target and will become a reality!
