Hi, I'm Kate and I've spent the last three years travelling around Victoria collecting original folk songs and tunes. From these recordings I've compiled a tune book which is now available to pre-order. 

About Melbourne Tune Collection:

Melbourne Tune Collection is a unique collection of original folk tunes and songs from around Victoria. It not only showcases the best of contemporary folk music in the state, it is also a noteworthy historical document that aims to put our local tradition on the map. Originally starting out as a series of video recordings, Melbourne Tune Collection has now grown to include a tune book. 

I've never lived outside Melbourne, but in my (somewhat biased) opinion, it's got one of the best folk music scenes in the world. Every week, I get to spend time with some incredible musicians who are writing some incredible music. Unfortunatly most of these tunes end up getting forgotten and lost. Especially for amateur musicians (who make up the heart of folk music), there's just no oppurtunity to record their tunes for longetivity. 

My goal for Melbourne Tune Collection has always been to preserve and promote this music. I genuninly belive we have something special happening right here, right now and I want to keep these tunes alive for future generations. 

About the tune book:

This tune book will feature over 80 songs and tunes from 50 different composers. These composers are a mix of professional and amateur musicians and come from all parts of Victoria. You might recognise some of these tunes from your favourite bands and artists, but most have never been performed or published before. 

This book will also feature some stunning artwork by Cameron Hibbs and Polly Bastow, a couple of local artists.

This has always been a volunteer, not-for-profit project with the sole focus of promoting our local music and musicians. 100% of sales proceeds from the tune book will go towards covering the costs associated with publishing.
