For the past 30 years, Mirage Sea Kayaks has been developing high quality Australian made / Australian designed sea kayaks.

The range of Mirage kayaks has always appealed to the mass market of paddlers wanting a well-balanced, stable and beautifully built kayak.

Three years ago we launched the 583 freeride; this kayak was a blend of the famous 580 hull (5.8m) and a modern open-deck style. The 583 freeride, kept all the wonderful characteristics of a Mirage Sea Kayak and allowed the paddler more freedom and ease of use. Over the past 3 years we have been asked many time if we will produce a smaller version.

Last year saw us launch another amazing sea kayak; the 532. This 5.3m sea kayak was fully designed by the original Mirage owner and designer, Paul Hewitson. Paul always said the 532 was the kayak he always wanted to make and he finally got his chance. The sales over the year have been incredible. The kayak is perfectly balanced and provides a great blend of stability and speed at only 5.3 metres.

Over the past 18 months we have been designing, developing, testing and prototyping the mix of the Mirage 532 and the Mirage 583 Freeride and we have come up with the 5.3m

Mirage 533 Freeride.

The testing has been very positive, the balance and stability are both there and our plug is currently at the 95% mark. We now need your assistance to finalise the polishing of the plug, preparation of the plug and the molding of the hull, deck and internal flanges. We have been also working hard on the composite architecture and we feel strongly that our first few 533's out of the mold will be close to the correct weight and strength.

By the time we get to the 4th or 5th 533 Freeride, we will be ready to start delivering to the public. Kayak number 1 to 5 will be put through their paces on the very busy kayak rental fleet of Sydney Harbour Kayaks, so we can fine tune the final build and strength required. This has been the same process we have used for the 582, 583, 600 and 532; kayaks that have all been developed across the past 5 years.

As a small family business, working hard to keep our development and manufacturing here in Australia, we really need your assistance and belief to get this project (that is so close to being finished) over the line, molded and produced and ready for delivery.

If everything goes well then we can start 

delivering our first 533 Freerides by December 2017.

We need to raise $15,000 Australian Dollars. 

This budget will be spent of the final prep of the plug (currently at 95%)

The hull, deck and the internal flanges will then need to be carefully molded to a very high level. We produce all of our molds to last many years - it takes several weeks and is very expensive.

The rest will be spent on the development of the composite architecture and the first couple of test versions of the 533 Freeride.

The only real challenges are securing the budget.

The time and care to have the plug finished to an extremly high level of surface finish.

The materials of molding are to all be the best available.
