The Murray river project involves kayaking the length of the Murray from Hume weir to where it meets the sea. I will be doing this in an effort to raise money and awareness for the environmental degradation through unsustainable use of the river system. Some of the issue that the river faces are contamination from agricultural run off, over irragation, bank erosion and loss of biodiversity. 

The aim of this project is to raise money for the Australia Conservation Foundation, to help them continue the invaluable work they do in restoring the Murray to a healthy river system. 

While travelling I will be capturing the rivers condition and beauty through photography, drawing and painting. The photographs and drawings will be availible as rewards for donations.  The paintings are availible for purchase through instagram with 10% of the sales going towards the ACF donation. The goal is $2216 which is the number of kilometres from hume weir to the sea, a dollar a kilometre traveled. 

80% of the money raised will be donated to ACF and the remaining 20% will go towards making the trip possible. 

Hopefully the goal will be reached but it would be amazing to raise more!

Physically completing the trip will be the biggest challenge. If it becomes too diffificult to complete in the 8 week period then it will be broken up into different sections making it more likely too succeed.
