PLEASURE DOME WEB SERIES
The Origin Of Pleasure Dome:
Pleasure Dome is a character-driven mini series that focuses on young creative adulthood in contemporary Melbourne. It began when Minnie Dunn (Writer/ Director) and Piper Packshaw (Producer/ Director) got together over coffee and conceptualized the structure, plight, tone and intention of the series based on a previous play that Dunn had written just months before, under the title 'Figmentum'. Although unlike the play that focuses on the main character of 'Buzzy', both creators decided to explore the design of a character per episode style of story telling and that although the narrative of Buzzy and his friends was strong, to concentrate on a different member of the friendship group each episode, enabled the ability to accutely represent contemporary themes such as Melbourne city music, youth culture, arts culture, mental illness, heartbreak, university studies and finance, neurological disorders, gender dysphoria and transformation, sexuality and specifically, friendship.
In collaboration with Filmmaker Sam Orchard, Pleasure Dome grew a tripod like direction team which assisted the full bodied conception of this drama, that with the contribution of Orchard became peppered in comedic components and industry grade camera work.
When Packshaw and Dunn finished coffee that day, they planted the initial key elements of Pleasure Dome into their community and in no time at all, were auditioning over 40 local volunteer actors for their 8 faces and voices of Pleasure Dome, a web series.
About us:
Minnie Dunn is a writer that launched her playwriting turn screenwriting carreer through amateur theatre in 2015, writing and starring in play that had been produced through Melbourne Fringe Festival under the title 'Above All Else'. Dunn had been a regular contributor to local Melbourne publications with her sattirically dark columns and short stories until focusing on the scripts for Pleasure Dome exclusively. With an industry understanding aquired through an internship with Folk Collective and film experience with Director Garth Davis on the set of Lion(2016) among others, Dunn found her passion for creating film based proects alongside telling stories of the relatability in various states of the human condition.
Piper Packshaw is a young professional that has a strong name and voice within the Melbourne music community, being the driving force in Sugar Teeth, a band that Packshaw created in late 2014. Undertaking an education at Victoria University through a Bachelor of Music, Packshaw produced and directed various music videos and creative projects whilst developing as a musician. Packshaw has since made significant industry connections all over Melbourne in both Film & Music, and is well known for her creative vision and performance in Sugar Teeth.
Sam Orchard is an experienced Melbourne filmmaker, working freelance over the last ten years creating various projects such as music videos, lifestyle comedy and local media promotion. With both an industry knowledge and strong skill set, Sam has been the back bone in creating Pleasure Dome's first episode.
The Project:
Pleasure Dome is a character-driven drama that focuses on it's eight main characters and the city they live in. Through the eye of each personal lens, you'll meet Buzzy (a kind hearted playwrite with mental health issues), Sophie (a broke visual artist with a passion for soul searching), Francis (a charismatic barista with a flair for acting and women), Jem (a lost stoner with blossoming potential), Zeph (a neurotic narcissist musician), Loz (an effortlessly cool and promiscuous photographer), Reuben (a nervous graphic designer inlove) and Rob (the heart of gold yet sullen proprietor of the bar that the gang frequent).
Pleasure Dome is a show about the artistic natured youth that occupy Melbourne; living in kitsch sharehouses, growing up, coming down, moving out, running late, getting loose, hurting, laughing and becoming stronger.
It's 2017, and it's a beautiful revolt against the misrepresentation of young, concious people in the media. It's about time we let more than facebook posts tell their stories. Packshaw and Dunn want to welcome you to the Pleasure Dome.

The Challenges
Pleasure Dome's primary challenge is not only the lack of finance that's needed to create a full season but also the inability to support the expense of advertising and awareness of Pleasure Dome.
In order to construct a script, congregate cast & crew, attain the appropriate equiptment and for all parties to be sustained is expensive beyond the pocket of both creators. With the financial hitches of marketting and promotion, Piper Packshaw, Minnie Dunn, Sam Orchard and the rest of the cast and crew (20 plus people) are calling upon their community to support their vision in making the world of Pleasure Dome an internet based reality.
Every cent helps and would be greatly beneficial to the construction of what could one day be an ongoing success.
To prove that the donations will be going toward a collective of productive talent, we've produced a Trailer and Pilot that's available to watch via Youtube.
