Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m an architect. Two years ago I was reading one of my favourite books - 101 Things I Learned in Architecture School. It's a great book… but I thought to myself, you know what would be more useful for young architects? A book about the 101 things that AREN'T taught at school. So I started writing it!

I’ve compiled a list of 101 things I wish I knew before my first architecture job. It covers basic information about architecture firms and business, professional drafting, introductory technical construction knowledge, ecologically sustainable design, regulatory compliance, working with clients, specifying, and self-development. It discusses all of these things in simple language and assumes you have no prior knowledge.

I always say that starting your first architecture job is a bit like graduating from masters of music theory and then being asked to pick up an instrument and play in an orchestra. It’s daunting, and sadly there’s not a lot of support out there. I’m determined to change that and this book is the place to start.

So far I've estimated that for a 130 page 5.5 x 8.5inch paperback, RRP should be for $18 for me to get $6.50 from each sale. I think $6.50 is a pretty great rate to receive all of these golden nuggets of information that I've learned the hard way!

My initial goal is to raise enough money through pre-sales to help me cover the professional editing, and to get an indication of support for the project!
