What is Snake Bite?

Snake Bite is a short 5 minute thriller, that will be the product of our Diploma student film. Snake Bite is a gripping story that explores the themes of selfishness, indecision, greed and how they can undermine people from achieving their goals. Set in the Australian bush, Snake Bite will give audiences a small taste of Australian culture and landscape.

"I have never been able to make up my mind if I am indecicive or not. I want Snake Bite to be a dark and gritty thriller that is full of tension and suspence and create a unrelenting feeling of anxiety for the audience. I also want to challenge the audience with characters that aren't particually likeable and consider the choices they would make if found in the same situation."

Synopsis:

In the aftermath of a hiest, three thieves seek refuge in the bush. When Beth is bitten by a snake, Adelay and Sidonie come to a head over whether they should risk getting caught to save Beth's life, or let her die and keep the spoils for themselves. While Sidonie bides her time to double cross them, tensions escalate and everything begins to unravel at the seams.

 It has been many hours of hard work preparing Snake Bite for production and will require many more for this film to reach it's full potential. We have invested our own time and money in to creating this film and have equipment, as well as cast and crew members on board, all who will be going unpaid. All funds will go into making Snake Bite the best short film it can be and making it a film that not only we can be proud of, but you can feel proud of being apart of.

The main challenges we will face during the production of Snake Bite will be shooting during the night in the bush. We have done extensive research into lighting for an exterior night scene as well as day-for-night shooting. No matter which way we decide to film, we feel confident to be able to overcome any complications or hurdles that may arise during produciton and to make the film look authentic.

Going hand in hand with our exterior location is dealing with the unpredicitability of weather during this time of year. We have set shooting dates for non-rainy days and have procedures in place for ways to avoid the rain and still get the best out of our location, shots and cast.
