WELCOME TO SPENCER
SPENCER is a new Australian feature film by Martyn Park and Adam Noviello. It tells the story of a young bisexual man who is struggling to reconnect with life after a series of tragic and complicated relationships, and with your help it is set to make its world premiere in 2019.
We need your help to assist in the completion of our movie: with editing, sound design, music, score, grading and more, requiring financing. With your support, you will have the opportunity to become a part of the project, a project that not only celebrates a character living outside the box, but a character whose individuality showcases the importance of what it means to live an authentic life; a concept very close to our hearts, and something we feel very passionate about sharing with the world. The experience and journey of Spencer portrays to its audience that the most important part of life, is living life.

“This character is very special to me, and I believe he is very special to the social discussion about sexual fluidity. I set out to tell the story of a man who has had an array of experiences with his relationships. Experiences void of labels. By highlighting the beauty, strength, and normalcy of bisexuality, we have strived to make a film that shines a light on this experience, by not commenting on it at all. It is not a coming of age story. It is not a film about the inner struggle of sexual crisis or identity. It is a love story. A human story.
Spencer is a man who is not defined by societal influence, by the labels of sexuality and social norms and I can't wait for you to meet him...” - Adam Noviello.
Whatever your contribution, large or small, we welcome you to the SPENCER team, and the thrilling completion of this new Australian film.
THE FILM
Early in 2017, in the midst of touring Australia in ‘Matilda: The Musical’, Adam had an idea for a character. A man, much like himself, who lives and breathes an unconventional existence. A man who lives in a world of labels. He began to write about this man. His life. His loves. His fluidity. By the time the tour reached Adelaide, that little idea had become 40+ pages of a script. Enter Martyn Park of Interlude Pictures, writer/director extraordinaire, who took that little idea and helped shape it into a fully fleshed feature length screenplay.
It was in Adelaide, whilst on tour, that the exciting initial meeting between Martyn and Adam occurred, setting the stage for a new collaboration and creative relationship. With further meetings and writing while overseas and across cities for well over a year, to the wondrous three weeks of principle photography in 2018, Spencer exists. He lives and breathes, with production being successfully completed over 22 days across Sydney and Melbourne.

ADAM NOVIELLO
SPENCER marks the feature film debut of Adam Noviello. After making his screen debut in the lead role in internationally acclaimed short film ‘Runway’ by Tony Ferrieri, Adam has spent the last 4 years successfully working in Australian theatre, touring both nationally and internationally as a true triple threat performer. His theatre credits include La Cage Aux Folles (The Production Company) , Funny Girl (TPC) , Matilda: The Musical (RSC/Louise Withers & Associates), and most recently playing Farrah/Young Bernadette in the 10th Anniversary Tour of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert The Musical (Michael Cassel Group), where he understudied theatre royalty, Tony Sheldon, in the lead role. 2019 sees Adam join the Australian premiere cast of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Gordon Frost Organisation), as he makes his leap in to the film industry starring in SPENCER.

MARTYN PARK
Martyn Park has been at the helm for Spencer’s entire life. He is the co-author, co-producer, director, as well being the cinematographer, lighting & sound designer. You might say he is a one-man-band, but the SPENCER team say he is “an absolute megastar of skill and genius.”
SPENCER marks Martyn’s 9th feature film, amongst a long career as an award winning writer, director and filmmaker, where he has been described as “possibly the most independent filmmaker in the world.”
His previous films include ‘1 + 1 = 11’, ‘iSOLATE’ & ‘1MC: Something of Venegence’, with many of his past projects enjoying festival premieres and success both here in Australia and overseas, most notably when iSOLATE made it’s premiere in Los Angeles, where its lead actress, Jacinta John, received the award for Best Actress in the LA Fear & Fantasy Film Festival.
THE CAST
SPENCER is played by Adam Noviello, with Natasha Maymon as RUBY, Tom Handley as HENRY and Cle Morgan as MARGRET.

NATASHA MAYMON
Natasha is a Melbourne based actress, singer and international model. Having been introduced to the performing arts at the tender age of 8, Natasha received her first role with Opera Australia in their production of Faust. Natasha made her television debut at the age of 13 playing the role of Chloe in Disney’s As the Bell Rings. At the age of 15 she began her studies as an actress at the Melbourne Actors Lab, where she continues to study to this day. After finishing school, Natasha’s modelling took her overseas where she worked and has featured in editorials of the most prestigious international fashion magazines.

TOM HANDLEY
Tom has worked extensively throughout film, television and theatre and graduated with a BA in music theatre at WAAPA where he was awarded the Bill Warnock award for most promising student. His play credits include playing Jay in Lost in Yonkers, Ronnie Winslow in The Winslow Boy (both NTC). Musical credits include WICKED (GFO), covering Fiyero, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (MCG), covering Tick and My Fair Lady (Opera Australia), under the direction of Dame Julie Andrews. Film credits include Unseen and Train, and television credits include campaigns for Coca Cola, St George Bank and the role of Trent in Network Seven’s Home and Away.

CLE MORGAN
Cle hit the entertainment industry in 1993 at the age of 12, starring in popular children’s adventure/drama series Ship To Shore. Upon completing a dance scholarship at the John Curtin College of the Arts, Cle was back in front of the camera in the Barron Films production of The Gift. Australia knows Cle best as a top 10 finalist in the 2003 debut season of Australian Idol. The Australian Idol Live Tour toured nationally and played to over 200,000 people. She has since forged a successful theatre career, appearing in Australian touring productions as Hud in Hair, Dj Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray, Minnie McKnight in Parade, Mrs. Phelps in Matilda: The Musical, and most recently as the lead Diva in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert The Musical. Cle is currently in the Australian premiere company of the worldwide phenomenon Harry Potter & The Cursed Child.

The SPENCER cast also includes Kristin Keam, John McCullough, Geoff Wallis, Darcey Eagle, Eva Parker, Roby Favretto, Lawson Reeves, plus award winning international cabaret star Mama Alto.
WARDROBE DESIGN & FASHION
Our costume designer, Joseph Noonan, played an integral part in the creation of this film. SPENCER chronicles three time frames of the title character’s life. Joe had a task ahead of him, as he had to design the film’s wardrobe to reflect the various phases and emotional states of our lead character. This has been done to genius effect, as Spencer stylistically shifts throughout the film, as the character himself emotionally shifts throughout his 20s. The fashion and style of SPENCER, has proven to be as important and as exciting as the story itself.
Joe was recently the production/wardrobe designer for Australian short film ‘Two Piece’, which won Tropfest 2018.

WHAT’S NEXT?
The next phase for Spencer’s journey is post production. Where we will enter the editing suite for three months of full time work on editing, grading, and sound design.
Our film score is being composed by two-time Helpmann Award winning composer and musical director, Stephen Amos. Stephen will be hard at work on an array of new music which will need to be written and recorded.
We are also thrilled to be showcasing an array of new music, with some exciting singer-songwriters coming on board with their fantastic music. With our movie being primarily shot in Melbourne, it has become very important to us to showcase Melbourne artists. These artists include Jess Fairlie, Lucky Moore & Max Lawrence. Be sure to check them out on Apple Music & Triple J Unearthed.
Also included in our film’s new music, is a brand new original song written by Adam Noviello called ‘I.N.D.T.B.’
