Hi, we are Corinne and Alexandra, two documentary filmmakers who have been inspired by a kick-ass team of Strong Women, whose heartwarming and determined personalities will be the shining force behind this web series. 

This is the resilient stories of Mari, Alira, Kerryn, Liana and Mel who practice the sport Strongman, a sport all about strength. We will follow them as they power through their recovery from the pain of their pasts, compete on international stages, inspire other women and reflect on the tough sacrifices they make to be the world’s strongest women.

This vigorous series will cover a range of women’s health issues and inspire you to build your strength inside and out.

Strong Women recently received some funding support from Screen Australia for the early stages of production (research and writing) but now we need a polished video teaser reel so we can pitch broadcasters and online platforms to get them to fund production costs (filming and editing) of the whole 6 part web series.

Why do we need a teaser reel?

A teaser reel is a short video presenting the story as well as the aimed visual style of a project. We currently only have some footage of a competition and we would like to present the accurate style that we are aiming for the series to broadcasters.

We’re planning a full day of filming with our DOP with high-end filming and lighting equipment to show the beauty of the muscular bodies, the strength, the sweat of the women training as well as sit down interviews. We aim to set the tone for the visual style of the series with this well-crafted footage.

We can also acquire an editor to cut together this new gorgeous footage with our previous work into a complete piece that will show the mix of visual styles we are aiming for with this series. We'd also attribute some funds for color correcting, as the footage will be a blend of cameras and it needs to have the polished consistent look of the final piece.

Strong in its background stories, exciting in its tireless energy and mesmerizing in its beautiful cinematography, Strong Women is your much-needed dose of Force, Fun and Femininity.

The Crew

We have a female lead production team right now, and we’re very proud that we have been able to source such talented women from the industry, and hope to be able to maintain a solid diverse group throughout the production. We’re proud to be women telling women stories.

Corinne’s factual storytelling portfolio has aired on a variety of platforms throughout Canada and Australia such as CBC, OWN Oprah Channel, Historia, Unis, TV5, Canal D, Knowledge Network, & SHAW TV. REEL

Alexandra's latest documentary, Life at a Snail's Pace, screened at festivals worldwide including Hot Docs and was notably granted the EDA Award for Best Female Directed Short Film at DOXA 2017. TRAILER

This project already received support from Screen Australia for research and writing and it now needs a sleek reel to pitch to broadcasters and online platforms to fully fund the production. The funds will be used as followed to create the reel:

Everything past our goal will be invested into animation titles for the reel, so we can better illustrate the level of strength 

of the women.

Potential Challenges

Because we have five main characters, our challenge will be to organise one day where we can film them all together, so there is a bit of pre-production planning we must do before we begin filming but we are organized, so we do believe this is achievable.
