Hello! 

We are Timber Music Box. Oscar and Gabi. We live in Melbourne. We begun recording local bands about a year ago.

TMB first formation: Gabi, Oscar and Karina (a.k.a.) Karinator. 2016

Oscar does the sound, Gabi the video and we love it.

We set up a stage in our garage. with lots of wood that came from Chile, like us in a way.

Bands came to play and record their music, dressing up the box in different ways with all their nic-nacs. 

We realised that we had so much music surrounding us from all corners of the world, and so many people creating, mixing, reinterpreting their own and other cultures that we decided to upgrade the box a wee bit, opening it up for bigger bands.

We have now a pretty awesome local fan base, and a good amount of videos in our channels, satified bands and many (many!) new friends.

One day, Multicultural Arts Victoria called and they were interested in what we were doing. We went to their office and happilly agreed to work together on a project. This fruitful alliance with MAV resulted in a documentary series that we would later call "The Chromatic Memory" 

Between Mav resulted in us getting some funding from Creative Victoria allowing us to make this all a reality 

"The Chromatic Memory" is a mini documentary series exploring the creation and production processes of memory, music and composition through artists living and producing in Melbourne, Australia. 

5 diverse music projects curated collectively by TMB and MAV will perform two songs featuring an interview looking to expose the stories behind each artist from living and being practicing creatives within a multicultural Australia.

All this will take place at The Aviary, the recording studio which we have chosen as a second home for this amazing adventure. (Pretty cool, isn't it??)

Our main goal is to expose and support the cultural and musical diversity and to encourage and document the production of original music in Victoria. 

This exposure will help educate and disperse the current local practices, which will benefit the local industry of multicultural Victorian based contemporary performing arts and will help position Melbourne as the music capital of Australia.

This project helps the participating artists obtain top quality promotional material which they can use to showcase their
work to venues, band bookers and festivals for potential employment, features and touring.

The Creative Victoria grant recieved gave us funds to cover the recording studio and equipment rentals, as well as some of crew wages and post production costs, but we still need more to cover the rest of them, and also put money towards advertising and marketing for the premiere scheduled for March 2018.

If we reach our goal, all remaining funds will go straight to the musicians involved, as we have a very tight budget to pay them for their efforts. We are for ever greatful for the opportunity we have to record such amazing talent and beautiful music!

Quint, Elisabeth Obando, Sebastian Orellana, Jethro Negron, Miles Izzo, Lachlan McLean, Tom Sly, Stav Shaul, Dudi Shaul, Joseph Batrouney, Yohai Cohen, Simon Starr, Gideon Preiss, Nick Martyn and Alex Burkoy.

We a super stoked to have made a successful start to this adventure, but we're only half way now so we ask you to dig deep and support us as we document a little piece of Australian music history.

If we reach our goal, all remaining funds will go straight to the musicians involved, as we have a very tight budget to pay them for their efforts.

The challenges we face are mainly that if we don't reach our goal we will have to put down the funds ourselves which we don't have. We both work other day jobs to keep our creative outlet alive, the funds are crucial So we can dedicate all of our time to this production and make it the beautiful thing that we wanted to be. We absolutely love working in this!

These productions are expensive and we've invested a great deal of work and time to get this idea off the ground. 

We are half way there and too far in it to give up now so we're going for it either way, but if we do reach our limit we will be able to fund the post production work and all the advertising parts for the promo of the premiere. We will be forever greatful for the support so we can make beautiful documentaries and musical videos for our faithful audience.
