Three siblings come together for a weekend to confront their alcoholic mother and face some hard truths as they attempt to mend the family - hanging by a thread.

Synopsis
When a plea from their estranged family sparks middle child Emerson's homecoming after 2 years, they will face some hard truths. Alongside their older sister Charlie and younger brother Seth, they seek to confront their mother, whose alcoholism is nearing a point of no return. As tensions rise and old wounds are reopened, will Emerson be able to keep it together? Or will this trip see them do more harm than good as the family hangs by a thread...?

Sean Halley (They/He)
as "Emerson Headstall"
Sean Halley is a British-Malaysian actor and musician currently based in Perth, Australia. Having spent the past three years studying the Bachelor of Arts (Acting) at the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts, they have extensive training in classical theatre, contemporary theatre and screen acting. A Suzuki trained Violinist, Sean is a lifelong student of music who is constantly seeking to learn new instruments. They are also trained in Musical Theatre at Showfit in 2019. Sean is grateful and eager to be playing the role of Emerson Headstall in Threadbare.
Shontane Farmer (She/Her)
as "Charlie Headstall"
Shontane Farmer started her journey at WAAPA’s Aboriginal Performance program, where she found her passion for acting. Since then, Shontane has undertaken studies in the Bachelor of Arts (Acting) and has starred in productions such as A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Human Canon and Summer Rain. Shontane was also involved as a voice actor for Fist of Fury Noongar Daa, premiering at the Perth Festival in 2021.
Giuseppe D'Allura (He/Him)
as "Seth Headstall"
Giuseppe D’Allura is an actor based in Perth, Australia. Giuseppe started acting at the Warehouse Workshop Studio in Gold Coast, QLD, where his entire focus was on honing his screen acting craft. He was reluctant to audition for drama schools but after encouragement from his coach, he finally gave it a shot, and was accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts to study acting. Giuseppe has worked as a music video director, fight choreographer and has already been in a handful of commercials, music videos and short films. Giuseppe can’t wait to play the role of Seth Headstall in Threadbare.

Betheney A’Vard (They/Them)
Director and Concept Creator
Betheney A’Vard graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Bachelor of Media and Communications in 2021, and has shown great passion for directing, producing and production design. They have written and directed films such as ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and ‘Bird Meets World’ and are now excited to bring the drama film, Threadbare, to life as part of their Master of Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy, majoring in directing.
Jessica Chong (She/Her)
Producer
As an aspiring Arts Manager, Jess is interested in promoting the sustainability of arts organisations and artistic careers. She is currently studying her Bachelor of Arts (Arts Management) at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, which includes an elective in Producing at the WA Screen Academy. Jess has a passion for the powerful storytelling medium that is film. She has interned in a number of arts organisations including working for the Perth Theatre Trust.
Nicholas Watson (He/Him)
Screenwriter
After completing a Bachelor’s in Media & Communications, majoring in Media & Cultural Studies in 2020 at Edith Cowan University, Nick is excited to be continuing his studies. Currently, he is working towards a Master’s Degree as an aspiring screenwriter and producer at the WA Screen Academy.
With a passion for telling meaningful and engaging stories, he can’t wait to invite audiences into the world of Threadbare – bringing Beth A’Vard’s original idea to life, crafting a story of family and hardship alongside an amazing team of fellow creatives.
Tana Glassock (He/Him)
Director of Photography
Tana Glassock is studying a Bachelor of Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy. He has worked on various music videos and short films, typically in the lighting department. He is excited to broaden his horizons by working behind the camera as the head cinematographer of Threadbare.
Bryan Liew (He/Him)
Editor
Bryan is an editor who came from Malaysia and graduated from SAE. He is currently studying his Master’s degree at WASA in Perth. Bryan has worked on different types of films such as short drama, documentary, anthology series and music video. He is looking forward to improving his editing techniques with the crew of Threadbare. Bryan aims to gain experience and strengthen his skills through the journey.
