Krosswerdz was established in 2006 in Sydney and has hosted a monthly event ever since. The inception of a regular gathering came shortly after InDaMidst.
What began as a need for local Hip Hop artists (emcees, producers, DJ's, Breakers, Graffiti writers and general Hip Hop enthusiasts) who wanted a space to marry their love for the Hip Hop culture and faith evolved over time into what is now a global movement. Krosswerdz now has chapters and crews across almost every state in Australia and International crews in NZ, Korea, Malaysia, USA, Canada and a multitude of partnerships in ministry and community across other various Countries.

The Krosswerdz community consists of people representing various ethnic and denominational backgrounds and we embrace all the elements of Hip-Hop Culture and the varying styles and genres within it.

It’s not easy to describe exactly what we “do”, there has been so much in a variety of different places both in Australia and Internationally.

We started by putting on Hip-Hop services which included pioneering the concept of Hip-Hop Praise.  Since then we’ve also been involved in outreaches, youth events, music festivals, school events, launching a record label (KWR – Krosswerdz Recordings), starting a graff crew (KWA – Krosswerdz Artists), producing a podcast (KW10 Podcast), youth detention ministry, running the annual UPROCK Christian Hip-Hop Summit, putting on concerts, running workshops and either hosting or sponsoring a whole bunch of Community Breakdancing events (including UPROCK Park Jam).

UPROCK International Christian Hip Hop Summit:
Since 2011 the Krosswerdz community wanted to host a Summit with workshops, conferences, concerts, community events and much more over a weekend. That has happened annually and 2020 will mark the 10th UPROCK event in Australia. International UPROCK conferences and partnerships have also been hosted within that time in Canada, NZ and Malaysia.

This year being the 10th year we want to celebrate it as well as we can. But due to the uncertainty of our current situation with the global pandemic there is a lot of challenges around knowing what kind of restrictions will be in place in November around travel and events.
It is possible that much of the conference this year will be digital with small pockets of events hosted in various areas.
That being said, one of the many ways we want to celebrate is by taking our annual UPROCK Compilation Album and take it to the next level.

This consept has snowballed and we now have a double disc release ready to roll with every track featuring an international guest from over the years who has participated in UPROCK or Krosswerdz in some way, partered up with local artists to create an album that celebrates Christian Hip Hop on a global scale.
We want to do this album justice and launch it at the level it deserves but due to the uncertainty around the event it is difficult to work with any kind of budget or framework. Our goal is to raise the funds required to reach our goal and launch not only the best UPROCK compilation album but possibly the most internationally represented Christian Hip Hop Compilation in history.
