My name is Aaron Kenny and I have some very exciting news to share with you.

Earlier this year I was accepted into the Masters program at New York University Steinhardt. Regarded as the top university in the United States to study music composition and film scoring, the school is highly competitive to gain admittance.

After discovering the high tuition ($55,000) as well as relocation costs, I declined the original offer to attend the two year course.

However, when speaking to the head of studies, I was offered a scholarship to attend the intensive two-week ASCAP Summer Workshop. This was an invaluable educational experience and highly enjoyable, as I had classes alongside talented composers from around the globe, and lectures from highly successful composers and musicians. I also experienced the rest of New York; a hub of creativity, inspiration, and many other amazingly talented artists.

After the course finished, I was caught off guard when the faculty offered me an American Steinhardt scholarship to attend the Masters course in Fall 2012. As I was not a US Citizen, they could not offer me a full scholarship, but still a solid partial one of $40,000. After some negotiation, the Head of Department arranged my commencement of the course to begin in second semester (Spring 2013), allowing me time to source the additional funding.

This is where I need your help

I have done a tight budget, and as well as the difference of $15,000 for the rest of tuition, need to raise over $40,000 for the 18 months of study, to cover basic rent, health insurance, food, and living costs. Particularly as I would be overloading four semesters of study in the space of three and wouldn't have any time to work.

I am working and composing like crazy to save as much as I can, and am looking at different avenues to try and raise the rest, but need your support to make this happen.

I am seeking a minimum of $10,000 through my Pozible campaign, but hope to raise as much as possible in order to finance more of my degree.

Keep in mind that Pozible works on an all‑or‑nothing funding model. This means that if we don’t reach the target, I don’t receive any money and you won’t have your pledge debited.

What is NYU?

So, if you haven't heard about NYU, nor seen it in popular Television shows and film, New York University (NYU) is a private, nonsectarian American research university based in New York City.
