PROJECT UPDATE: Woo! You people rock! Full amount raised already! How exciting! Thanks to all of you lovely pledgers out there, the ebooks are going to have the covers I want them to! You rock.
There's still a bit of time left on the project though, so anyone who wants to take advantage of this cheaper-when-you-preorder offer is welcome to. If a dollar off an ebook (or two) floats your blah blah then you've got 'til 15 May 2012 to get in on the ground floor or whatever.
Thanks guys.

So back in 1998 and 2003 I had a collection of poetry and a novel published by Allen & Unwin. The poetry collection was called Not Quite the Man for the Job and the novel was called Man Bites Dog.
Michael Leunig said some nice things about the poems at the time, including "Adam Ford's poetry is young, open-hearted and generous." Nick Earls said that the novel was full of "real humour and exactly the right amount of everyday human frailty." So there's that.
Both of these books are out of print now and the publishing rights have been returned to me. I'm planning on creating ebook versions, but to be able to use the same cover images that the print editions used, I need to buy reproduction rights from Allen & Unwin so that the graphic designers who came up with these fabulous covers are fairly compensated for their excellent work.
Thing is, I don't really have a lazy $300 ($150 per cover image) lying around at the moment. So I'm looking to you lot to help me out if you so care to.
You can donate as little or as much to this project, and there are some rewards for those who do, to wit:
-
Everyone who donates $4 to The Adam Ford eBook Cover Fund will receive a copy of the finalised ebook of their choice (.epub format)
-
Everyone who donates $8 or more to The Adam Ford eBook Cover Fund will receive a copy of BOTH finalised ebooks (.epub format)
If this project gets its funding the books will eventually be available for sale at $5 each, so as well as the inner warmth that comes from knowing that you are personally responsible for the creation of these unique ebooks, you also get $1 off the eventual sale price.
This isn't so much one of those crowdfunders that gives you lots of little bits and pieces and gimmicky bonus items in return for your support. It's more of a simple preorder service with a slight discount.
Thanks heaps for taking the time to consider this proposal. Have a great day.
A pledge of four buckaroonies will score you one copy of the ebook of your choice. They come in two flavours: poetry or novel-ly.
A pledge of EIGHT buckaroonies will save you the trouble of having to decide between your new favourite novel and your new favourite poetry collection (in ebook format).
