Major upgrade to www.alexbroun.com
After five great years and over ten million hits it's time for a major upgrade to my website www.alexbroun.com. Since it was launched as one of the world's first free access script websites by the then Federal Arts Minister Peter Garrett in 2009, alexbroun.com has become one of the most popular websites in the world for ten minute plays. It's provided plays for over 1000 productions worldwide in over 30 countries and seen my plays translated into many languages. But now it's time to start trying to make some income from my writing - so I have time to write some more! So from June 2013 alexbroun.com will be charging AUD$5 per ten minute play download and AUD$10 per full length play download. We still think that's very reasonable and you'll still be able to perform the plays royalty free - you just need to pay to download the script. To change the website from free to fee based we need to complete a major overhaul which will be carried out by the original web designers in Melbourne - smashing time. This will see a complete re-design of the website and new features such as Search a play and Preview a play. The website re-build will cost AUD$4,500 plus I'm also looking for an additional AUD$5,500 so I have time to be able to do all the re-writing and providing of copy for the new site. For anyone around the world who has ever read one of my plays, or acted in one, or directed one or just sat in the audience and watched one - now's the time I really need your help.
