Free Nauroze Anees
Nauroze Anees has been wrongly imprisoned in Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre.
On Thursday the 6th of October after getting home from work, Nauroze was getting ready to go to train with his friends at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
There was a knock at the door, Nauroze opened it to see seven Australian Boarder Force Officials standing there. Nauroze collapsed with shock and the officials took him to the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre.

I am Alexander Hipwell, a friend of Nauroze for the last six years. I am creating this page for Nauroze as crowdfunding platforms are blocked within the facility he is being held in.

I am heartbroken that we are living in a country that rips good hard working people from their lives and put them in facilities as brutal and dark as the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre. This is not the Australia I want to live in. Nauroze belongs in the community, not in a centre with criminals and people who have lost their minds due to Serco and the Immigration Department's brutal tactics.
Nauroze has been wrongly imprisoned in a centre that Serco guards say is "worse than jail." Because in jail at least you know when you're getting out.
Nauroze doesn't belong in this centre. He has lived in Australia since 2007 when he arrived on a student visa. He has been educated here, and has built a life here. Everything he has worked for over the last nine years has now been taken away.

Nauroze was in the process of becoming a permanent resident in Australia but has had a major injustice done to him. Every lawyer he has spoken to says he doesn't belong in Immigration Detention.
In 2012 he was taken to the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre a first time. He defended himself and was released on a Bridging Visa E. In 2013 the Migration Review Tribunal heard his case and directed the Department of Immigration to grant Nauroze a Partner Visa which would lead to permanent residency. When the Liberal government came into power Nauroze was kept on Bridging Visa E, meaning Nauroze had to stay in Australia while waiting for the Department of Immigration to implement to decision of the Migration Review Tribunal. When Nauroze was taken from his home he was still waiting to receive his Partner Visa.
Nauroze is now suffering from depression and anxiety in the centre and is constantly watching his back so he isn't assaulted by other detainees. This has made it increasingly difficult for him to defend himself this time.
Nauroze is a poster boy of Australian values. He is kind, caring and a prankster. He loves going to the cricket and being social with his friends. During the Black Saturday bushfires he volunteered to help where he could.

In 2012 when Nauroze was in detention for the first time it was during the last federal Labor government. Detainees had a lot more freedom within the centre and could move around the complex more. Now under the leadership of Immigration Minister Peter Dutton detainees are restricted to their zones, which has made the spaces cramped and dangerous.
Earlier this year The Sydney Morning Herald described the facility that Nauroze is in as Australia's harshest detention centre.

Nauroze has been on more than one occasion been told that they can send him to Christmas Island by Serco guards where he will be "forgotten about." There have also been reports of Serco guards assaulting detainees and inmates.
There are also reports of rapists, murders and criminals in this facility that rightfully need to be deported but Nauroze is not one of them. He is a man who only wants his freedom and to continue living in the country he loves so much and calls home.

The money raised from this campaign will be used to cover Nauroze's Immigration Lawyer's legal fees. He cannot cover the costs by himself and has no other option but to ask the community for assistance.
The funds are needed ASAP as Nauroze has stated he doesn't know how much longer he can survive within the facility. He is surviving everyday by thinking of his family and the people he loves.
We will be so thankful because by pledging you will be helping save Nauroze's life whilst and protesting against a country that locks up people without warning who have done absolutely nothing wrong.
Nauroze will be forever thankful to everyone that helps give him his life back.
All he wants is his freedom.
How The Funds Will Be Used
The money raised from this campaign will be used to cover Nauroze's Immigration Lawyer's legal fees. He cannot cover the costs by himself and he has no other options to to ask the community for assistance.
- The immigration lawyer's fee is $10,000 AUD
- Nauroze is selling assets and using savings to pay the first deposits
- We're asking the community to help us secure the rest
The funds are needed ASAP as Nauroze has stated he doesn't know how much longer he has survive within the facility. He is surviving everyday by thinking of his family and the people he loves.
The Challenges
Once we have the funds the case will be then taken up by immigration lawyers who will be able to assist Nauroze with his case and free him from this nightmare.
Our biggest challenge is getting the funds to them on time.
