Alice Dixon, Caroline Meaden and William McBride are asking for your help to present our new dance-performance work 'Fallen O'er' at the Abbotsford Convent, to assist with covering our production costs and to pay our team of fabulous collaborators. Fallen O'er is our second major work together as a collective and it builds on the creative relationship we formed while making 'This is What's Happening' over 2014 and 2015.

We have been commissioned to make and present Fallen O’er as part of Alchemy 2016 – the Abbotsford Convent Foundation’s flagship arts funding initiative. Taking place throughout May, Alchemy presents a series of site-specific works that celebrate the Convent’s space and place - its location, architecture, environment, people and history. **Our dance-theatre troupe**

We absolutely love working together in our dance-theatre troupe and see our creative relationship continuing long into the future. We have picked up a team of fabulous design collaborators along the way. Our sound designer Emah Fox and lighting designer Jason Crick have been working with us for the past couple of years. Our work would not be the same without their creative input and support. Matilda Woodroofe is joining us for Fallen O'er as our costume designer, and we are thrilled to have her on board.

We have received great support from the Convent, which has commissioned the three of us to build the work, but we need your help to enable us to cover our production costs and to pay our fabulous collaborators for all their hard work.

A little bit about FALLEN O'ER:

"And the Bishop said 'they can perform the dance at Mass if they pin their tops to their pants'.”

Dance-theatre collaborators Alice Dixon, Caroline Meaden and William McBride present 'Fallen O’er', a contemporary performance work inspired by a personal experience of a young woman performing liturgical dances at a Catholic girl's school. ‘Fallen O’er’ arises from a body of research and experimentation, stemming from the artists’ ongoing fascination with all things pertaining to sex and the body, especially when viewed through the prism of religion and religious instruction. How does the body partake in sacred moments of joy, love and peace, without disturbing the peace? Finely wrought and beautifully peculiar, ‘Fallen O’er’ sits at the nexus of dance and theatre, seamlessly weaving the two forms to present a work of both rigorous physicality and absurd humour.

More about the Abbotsford Convent's Alchemy program

While the Abbotsford Convent Foundation has provided us with funding to create the work, we now need your help to turn their Beautiful Mural Hall into a performance space. Our Pozible funds will go towards our sound and lighting costs, as well as other production costs associated with fully realising the piece, such as costumes and set items. Most importantly, these funds will enable us to pay our fabulous collaborators for all of their hardwork, time and expertise.


**Colour and flair**

The Beautiful Mural Hall is a space full of quirks, and we are working hard to turn these to our advantage with Fallen O'er. The echoes, leaks and squeaks pose a few challenges to the production side of making a show, and the Pozible funds will help us with contingencies.

The biggest challenge with this work, as with all independent arts practice, is working long hours with limited resources. We love making this work, and the additional funds from this Pozible campaign will help significantly with the sustainability of our practice.
