Recently I was working in Parramatta Park looking after a large art work installation, this required me to be in the park every day for 10 days and during this time I met Darren.
Darren has been living in the park for two and a half months now after hitting some hard times and I would love to be able to help him find a place to live. He needs a bit of a hand to get back on his feet, he has a job, a good attitude and a friendly personality but things are not easy for him with his current living situation.
Darren has had items taken from him such as blankets and bags of personal items, his back is giving him trouble due to him not having a proper bed to sleep in and he has to carry everything that he cares about with him at all times to ensure he can keep them.
I know I certainly take my shelter and the comforts in my life for granted, so it's hit a nerve to meet someone who doesn't have these things. This campaign is not a wide reaching campaign to assist many but it is a chance to solve a major problem for one person who really needs a hand.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The money will be used for the following:
$2k Goal:
- Bond and the first few weeks rent on a room or small flat - from there rent will be covered from his job
- The bare essentials, a bed, fridge, pots, pans, etc

$2000 - $3000:
- The basic essentials, washing machine, television, couch, etc
- A shopping trip for all the kitchen supplies and some fresh food
- Some new clothes for work
- A bike for transport
- The rest will go towards rent to provide a few more weeks of stability

Above $3000:
- A forklift license to provide job security without relying on his bad back for lifting
- The rest will go to a charity that assists people on the streets who need a hand.

If I can find 100 people to provide $20 then Darren's life will improve massively, sometimes you just need a bit of a hand and it would be amazing if we can make that happen.

The Challenges

I trust Darren will take this opportunity to get his life back on track, he's an honest, hard working man.
Every cent from this project will be allocated for exactly what it is intended for - to get Darren into a secure environment with all the things he needs to live.
Anything beyond that amount will be given to a Sydney Homeless Connect, who work directly with people on the street providing them with the assistance that they need. http://sydneyhomelessconnect.com/

We will provide photos of our progress along the way. If you donate we will show you what we buy and the place that Darren gets to live in with your support.
