House Proud
We, Ben Landau (www.benlandau.com) and Anna van Veldhuisen (www.annalouise.net) have been invited to be part of Under the Radar 2011 at the Brisbane Festival to present 'House Proud' in September 2011.
We are currently seeking support to make the show possible - your funding will go towards insurance, travel costs for the Melbourne artists to go to Brisbane, and artist fees for everyone involved.
Any support you have to offer this exciting project will be highly appreciated!
House Proud is a short, immersive performance experience for small audiences. Three percussionists interpret the sounds of everyday life in an IKEA-esque house, exploring the ideas of habit, space, ritual and perfection. By focusing on the unnoticed, beautiful and minute sounds we make in our repetitive daily gestures, House Proud challenges audiences to examine their home life and appreciate the simplistic joy of the house soundscape.
House Proud is the brainchild of young Melbourne artists Anna van Veldhuisen (percussion and composition) and Ben Landau (design), and features Brisbane’s Rebecca Lloyd-Jones and Angus Wilson. Drawn from real-life research into the quirks and habits of housemates, friends, family and colleagues, the team of percussionists will celebrate, through musical performance, the nature of us and our homes.
House Proud is on both Twitter (houseproudmusic) and Facebook.
NOTE: Postage is currently limited to Australia, however can be negotiated individually via email with Anna ([email protected]) for international donations.
