As the popularity of anime becomes more widespread and mainstream, the fringe parts of it that were always considered to be an integral part of the fan-culture are slowly being pushed away from large scale events so as to not offend or upset the sensibilities of larger, more conservative, groups of patrons.
Hard core otaku, furries, fujoshi and the queer community are all slowly being told the parts of the anime culture that they loved is no longer acceptable at larger anime events so they can be more family friendly.
conSENSUAL aims to provide a space for the queer community's appreciation of anime and anime culture. With screenings, panels, special guests, social activities and traders all centered around the conjunction of queer and anime culture, conSENSUAL will provide a space that no longer exists and pop-culture conventions for the old school fans.
conSENSUAL intends to be a full weekend event held in the Melbourne CBD in late November / early December of 2012.

Supporters Weekend Pass conSENSUAL has a number of activities in the evening not available to regular attendees. Preliminary ideas include a pool party, shibari and D&S demonstrations, an after party with a wet bar and a guest meet & greet.
