So we reached our target, with 4 days to go. Enormous thanks go out to all the champions who got us to this point!
It doesn't end here though - the more we raise now the more we can do. Now we can start working on these:

Project details
The reading room started out as a simple idea - a lounge room in the city that anyone would be free to use as a place for reading (obvious yeah?), meeting people, looking at art, making art and so on.
Over time, and thanks to the support of a dedicated and enthusiastic community, it has become much more.
2011 saw us take part as a venue for the Festival of Unpopular Culture, SALA festival and Feast Festival. 2012 we hosted our first Fringe program with two performances and an art exhibition. We liked it so much we're doing it again. This time with four shows, one exhibition and a room of laughter.
You may have been to an event at the reading room, and if so you know how, um, DIY (?) the space is. We love it that way, but we also want to put on more shows on a regular basis. For the People in Charge to let us do this, we need a few fancy things, and for this, we are asking for your help.
Your pledge will go towards making us eligible for re-classification under the Building Code of Australia. You can talk to Ianto about what that means - he loves it. This will mean more shows, more *quiet* music, more drinks and more reading room.


First up we need to become BCA compliant as a place of public assembly. If we reach our goal we'll be able to get started with this:
Bits we need to do to be BCA compliant
+ install air conditioning
+ repair the toilets
+ pay an application fee to the Council
It's not much, but it's more than we can afford (ie nothing).

Rewards
As a non-profit organisation the reading room can't afford to buy your support with gifties and swag. We can however thank you from the bottom of our collective heart, and offer you the use of the space once we're certified and legit. Check out the rewards on offer and get your thinking cap on!
