PROJECT UPDATE - 25th July 2013
After standout seasons in Adelaide and Melbourne, Confessions of a Control Freak, is now headed to the Judith Wright Centre in Brisbane from 15 - 17th August.

The exciting news is that Confessions of a Control Freak can have its world premiere at Australia’s off-Broadway equivalent, The Adelaide Fringe Festival - in a fabulously funky venue - The Tuxedo Cat…If we can raise the funds to get us there!

To get this show to the Adelaide Fringe is a massive opportunity. It is the largest Arts Festival in Australia, and offers the chance for me and my show to be seen by local, national and international presenters and producers. One of my main goals is to extend the life of the show beyond the Adelaide Fringe. Performing is my passion and I want to be doing it as much as possible.
The songs and the comedy come from our lives as busy people and the feeling of being constantly torn between opposing lifestyle goals like, “I want it all and life’s short, so I can’t waste a second” and “I’ve got to slow down, let go, live in the moment and make some more time for me”. What I love about human beings is that we are a bundle of contradictions. Most of the time we want conflicting things from life; we want to be unique individuals and yet we constantly seek other’s approval.
When I first started this project I didn’t think I was a control freak but...writing, performing and self-funding this project is certainly generating plenty of honest and juicy material - especially because I can’t do it all by myself. I am really lucky to be supported by a talented creative team. I have worked with Jen, my incredible, pitch-perfect Musical Director, on a number of occasions and now her husband, Jamie, will be my accompanist. They are bringing their beautiful 4 month old son so it’s going to be quite a family affair!
I have been chosen to perform at Tuxedo Cat. It’s a very popular venue and the people who run it are incredibly supportive of new work and emerging artists. With nine performances it will be a great opportunity to work the show, test it, in front of nine different audiences.
The time has come for me to take this risk and I really need your support to do it.

WHERE WILL YOUR MONEY GO? Your money will contribute towards paying for:
*The Venue Hire at the fabulous Tuxedo Cat
*Graphic Design, Posters, Flyers, Printing and Distribution - we need to get the word out about our show with striking images that stand out over 900 other shows at the Festival.
*Costumes and props
*Flights - We have a long way to go! Jen, Jamie and I are workshopping and creating the show in Brisbane
*A roof over our heads. Accommodation whilst we entertain the festival goers in Adelaide
*And boring but important things like insurance and licences
***$2500 is a only portion of the total cost of putting of a show and taking it to the Adelaide Fringe. Aside from creating the show I am working several jobs and holding other fundraising events and activities to get us over the line.
