We need your help. We are putting on a show. A small show. With a whole lot of contributors. It's the first step in this workshop and we are presenting it to the public. Your help goes towards the artists fees, production and the next step of the show.

What is the show?
In the 1980s Manly’s North Head was the setting for what was first believed as a platform for young men to commit suicide. Now an inquiry tries to question whether it was a haven for gay hate crime.

10 years since they first began, Fairly Lucid Productions is bringing you a powerful original work in progress from 10 playwrights and song writers who explore the issues of hate and love and all that falls in between. In this initial phase we will present a part cabaret, part theatre for six performances at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne in May which focuses on the characters that centre around a common incident of gay hate crime. Our writers include Rochelle Bright (NZ), Meg Courtney (AUS), Bjorn Deigner (DE), Emma Dockery (AUS), Dan Giovannoni (AUS), Elise Hearst (AUS), Juleiaah Koren (AUS), Finegan Kruckemeyer (AUS), JP Larocque (CAN) & Simone Page Jones (AUS) and will be directed by Alister Smith. Lighting by Georgia Rann. Produced by Melanie Velissaris.

With the increase of gay rights awareness at present, the secrets that lie within the hatred on the opposite side of the fence are coming to the surface and those voices are getting louder on both sides of the argument. We are discovering a lot more about humanity and our history and we have brought together a spectacular team of artists to explore these issues and responses in a new piece of theatre filled with songs and monologues in the first step of the process with a work in progress presentation in May at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne.

This one man show will feature Ben Noble (an award winning artist) together with accompanist who present stories through song and dialogue to create a beautifully diverse and very exciting new work.

How The Funds Will Be Used

These funds will be put towards an a work in progress production of The Reckoning at The Butterfly Club May 27th - June 1st.

The money we intend to raise through pozible will specifically go towards the payment of artists and recording of a CD. Productions are costly, and with new work, you want to work with the best independent theatre makers you can. We have a brilliant team who have written a response to our subject material to produce a beautifully eclectic new work. We believe this is a very important time to produce a work of this calibre and about this subject matter. And we want to ensure we can continue to work with these artists from this work in progress into a full production at a later date. And those artists deserve to be paid to ensure they can go on creating.

We are also looking at recording a sample CD of a few tracks from the show written by Ben Noble and Juleiaah Koren. Recording sessions can be costly and to ensure we have the best product to apply for Government Grants in the future we hope to have a professional package we can put forward.

With your generous support we will be able to provide these items that will do justice to the words and music of this show.

The Challenges

There is a fear that this work will just get buried. And that's a real shame. We are extremely proud of this piece and we are excited about where this piece can go. It's a new work that needs a little nourishment to survive. A little bit of food and water to keep us going.

Our main challenge is financial. Without help and bums on seats we could loose money. And to ensure we look after our artists involved we are looking for assistance here. To overcome a shortfall, all of our experienced and professional collaborated have opted as a profit share so that they can potentially get paid.

This means that if we don't break even, then they don't get paid for their art.
