The Icebreaker is a wickedly funny black comedy being made by a group of Perth filmmakers united in their love of good comedies, super hero flicks and a strong desire to make a kick-ass film.

The Icebreaker, a superhero specialising in 'breaking the ice' in any social situation, comes against the one thing he doesn't understand: Love - and when the girl of his dreams has absolutely no interest in him, he and his side kick, Wing Man, go to insane lengths to prove him worthy.  



We have a whole crew and cast of exceedingly talented film makers who are willing to give up there valuable time for an extremely reduced rate and many kind offers of help from the Perth community at large, but we still need your help. To make this film for you, our audience, as good as we possibly can we need to spend money on set building, costume design, specialized equipment rental, food, water and locations. We also need a little bit left over at the end so we can get this film out into the world and do you all proud.

Even on a shoestring budget film making is expensive work. We have had many offers of free or heavily reduced prices on a wide range of things vital to film making, but some things you simply have to pay for.

-Costume Design $500: We have Kerrie Fulker, an exceedingly talented Perth costume designer and cosplayer, signed on to make our super hero costumes. We are so honoured to be working with her, check her out here at Astrokerrie Cosplay

-Set Design $500: Our amazing art team, lead by Rhys Tiernan Hall, are hard at work building the sets that will bring this world alive.

-Equipment Hire $300: Whilst we can source many pieces of equipment through crew or friends there are certain items we will need to rent and they are pretty expensive. 

-Catering $400: Feeding 25+ people several times a day for 6 days adds up pretty quickly!

-Locations $200: Some of our locations will cost money to rent. We cant film the whole film in our sheds, sadly.

-Wages $3000: We have managed to gather a cast and crew of exceptionally talented people who will be taking time off of their well paying day jobs to stand in the cold late at night with us. This might seem like a lot but when spread between 25 people over 6 days it is just enough to cover their petrol driving to set.

-Festivals $250: We want to get this film out into the world and prove that Perth can make great films! Entering festivals costs money though, but we already have a plan of which festivals suit this film so we are hopeful that each entry counts!

-Pozible $250: We need to cover the costs of making our rewards and the percentage Pozible take. 

-Additional Expenses: With most films you budget in a contingency for when things go over or you need something last minute. We have accepted the cost of any contingencies to come out of Taylor and I's own pocket and we are more than happy to do this.

The largest obstacle to this production is time frame. With several key cast and crew already signed on to projects in Q2 we only have a few months to make this film. We are adamant that we can achieve this in that time frame and we are all helping each other out as much as possible.

There will be all the usual film problems like scheduling conflicts, location changes and equipment failures but we are all experienced enough to be able to rise to the challenge and over come them.
