Hi My name is Bev Abela  a singer songwriter from Boorloo/Perth

I bought my first guitar at the age of 11 and wrote my first song at the age of 13 but then life got busy with education, travel and having a family and I didn't follow my dream of being a singer /songwriter. But the dream never left me.

 After 13 years in an abusive and dangerous marriage, in which my creativity was stifled, I found the courage to escape but it had taken a toll on my mental health and I had a complete break down. Music played a great part in my recovery. 

At this time in my life friends of mine held a regular house concert which I attended and the live music was an amazing boost to my well being. After mentioning to them that I used to play guitar they encouraged me to get up and sing a song and that was it I got hooked on singing again, only playing covers but all of the songs I sang had meaning to me. It was wonderful to be making music again.

  Some years later, my beautiful daughter passed away in a car crash at the age of 19, again I turned to music to heal but this time I also started to write down my thoughts and feelings , just to get them out of my head.  Eventually I turned these writings into songs and I wrote many songs as a tribute to her and years later I still do. 

It took me many years of grief to find my way back to anything resembling a functioning life but I eventually did and re engaged with the world.

About 4 years later I met and married a kind man whose amazing wedding gift to me was time in a recording studio to record my songs and that is how my first album "Heartfelt" came to be.

Sadly during the time I was recording, my husband was diagnosed with MND and although he heard all of the songs that were recorded, he passed away before it came to fruition and launched.

Since its release I have been honoured to hear that the songs from this album have helped others heal.This album is available to hear on all platforms including spotify,Apple music,bandcamp, youtube.

I truly believe in the power of music as a healer, and I now have at the very least another album of songs that I would very much like to record and share with the world in the hope that it too helps others to heal.

It will be an album of love, loss, resilience, survival and healing.
