4ZZZ's Queer Radio has scored a rare press accreditation to attend the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. 

This year, the contest's theme is "Building Bridges" and one of the biggest bridges built has been to invite Australia to compete alongside the other 26 finalists for the first time. 

4ZZZ is celebrating it's 40th birthday this year, the oldest FM broadcaster in Queensland and one of Australia's oldest community radio stations. 

Queer Radio is the world's longest continuously running radio program for the diverse in gender and sexuality community, having been on air since 1992 and directly previously as "Gaywaves" from 1983. 

To celebrate these three huge historical milestones, 4ZZZ and Queer Radio applied for and was recently granted a very rare press accreditation as part of the Australian Press Delegation to this year's Eurovision Song Contest. However - we are a community supported radio station. We rely on our subscribers & volunteers, our sponsors and donations to survive and receive no government funding for day to day operations.

This is where you come in! We need your help to defray the cost of the airfare and accommodation for Queer Radio's host/coordinator/producer, the multi-award winning Blair Martin to get to Vienna and bring the Eurovision Song Contest back to 4ZZZ and Queer Radio. And - as an added bonus, Blair will be taking the cheeziest MC, host and interviewer in the world, the legendary "Sonny Spells" along as well - two for the price of one!

Simple breakdown, nothing fancy:
Return airfare, Brisbane to Vienna - $2000
Accommodation, meals & expenses for the two weeks of the Eurovision Song Contest - $1000

The challenge is to get the $3,000!

The accreditation process was long, slow and nailbiting! It was only a few days ago that official word was received after a series of emails between the Australian delegation to Eurovision and 4ZZZ. Thankfully, they were convinced at the 11th hour of the worthiness of having Australia's oldest independent and alternative radio station at Eurovision this year.

However, that has left us critically short of time to raise the funds to cover the basic cost of the getting there and reporting on the event for the two weeks (a week of rehearsals, press conferences and the like) and the week of performances (three dress rehearsals which count toward 50% of the contestants overall score and the three live shows seen by millions and millions around the world)

We know we can raise this money!

If it's looked at simply - ten people, donating $300 each will secure the target. We believe that we will find those ten people - and more. All contributions gratefully received and deeply appreciated.
