Munted definition = You have taken so many drugs you have become incoherent

Munted is a theatre performance which enters the mind of Sam. A young man who is trapped.  With his feet stuck to the room, he is fragile and struggles to escape the the walls that surround him. Performance and multimedia artists in Cairns will collaborate to create a world that is clear to both those who or have not experienced drug culture.

The funds will go towards a projector for my company, Jack in the Box, so we don't have to borrow one running the risk of losing it during rehearsals.

I am an independent producer here in Cairns. My main aim is to bring new audiences to the theatre. At 24 I have lived and studied in Cairns my whole life. The Centre of Contemporary Arts and JUTE are incredibly supportive of Jack in the Box and it's new work.

My first production, Poetry Promenade, a collection of poetry heard throughout the centre was a sell out with 25% of the audience never being to a theatre before.

My second production I directed, High Life Hustle (A Dance theatre performance) was also sold-out with 40% of the audience having never attended The Centre of Contemporary Arts before.  

MUNTED will be "Jack in the Box" first full length performance.

It is targeted for both a theatre audience and also those who have yet to experience theatre in Cairns (there is a lot).

Beginning in December 2010. Munted began with a monologue I wrote at the ATYP Fresh Ink Program and then continued in 2011 conducting workshops with recreational drug users in five different art forms from theatre to spray-painting. Two previews/creative developments were also produced in 2011 at The Tanks Art Centre and at the Centre of Contemporary Arts colloborating with dancers/media artists/musicians and actors.
