Hi! We're Caitlin, Cass, Alyssa, and Marita. We're members of YWCA Canberra, a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing services to the Canberra community since 1929. 

We joined YWCA Canberra because we wanted to be part of a movement that makes a difference in the lives of vulnerable people - we really care about what the organisation does on the ground to support our community. 

One of YWCA Canberra's key projects is the Food Hub. As the Canberra winter closes in, the need for emergency food relief for vulnerable families is increasingly critical. At YWCA Canberra's Food Hub, we provide a pantry-like system where young people and their families can access free, nutritious food in times of need.

This valuable service has been hit hard with funding cuts – in 2015-16, the funding for the Food Hub has been cut by 60%, even as demand keeps increasing. 

No one should have to do without food in our community. You can help us keep our Food Hub running by donating to this campaign and spreading the word through social media!

All the funds raised here will make a really tangible difference to lives of Food Hub clients. The funds will be used to purchase fresh food and non-perishable items to stock the Food Hub shelves and help us keep providing this service for at least another two months. 

The Food Hub is run entirely by volunteers, so 100% of the proceeds from this campaign will go towards supporting our clients.

And every dollar counts - with 60% less funding this year, we'll be struggling to meet demand.  

Our biggest, and only real challenge is funding - our Food Hub is run by an award-winning team of volunteers, and is already serving an ever-growing community need. 

But without funding, this service will no longer be able to survive, and we don't want Food Hub clients to have to go hungry, or make impossible decisions between food and other essential items like healthcare, school equipment for their kids, or anything else. 

YWCA Canberra fundraises for the Food Hub throughout the year, but it's difficult to sustain the program without any sense of ongoing funding. They'll keep doing this, and applying for grants, but the money raised here would make a really big difference!
