Help me volunteer in Kenya!
Help me teach science in Kenya!
I’ve been lucky enough to be selected as one of 6 applicants to volunteer in Busia, Kenya, through Chalkboard Kenya. I will be teaching science to students from prep to year 8.

Chalkboard Kenya is a not-for-profit organisation that places teachers into Mama Orphans Children’s Home. This orphanage houses 136 children ranging from 0-18 years old, many of whom have lost their parents to AIDS and have no one else to care for them. Orphans in Kenya often find it very hard to find a local school that will accept them and so many do not get any education at all. This is where Chalkboard Kenya comes in…. by giving these orphans the chance of a good education by bringing in some much needed teacher.

I am currently working as a science teacher in Geelong, Australia. I am an alumnus of the Teach for Australia program and strongly believe that everyone has the right to a good education. I would love to volunteer at Mama Orphans Children's home to help spread my love of science and to help reduce educational disadvantage.
How The Funds Will Be Used
I need to raise at least $2000 to support the orphanage, to cover the cost of my stay, to pay local employees and to cover the cost of my airport transfer.
All of the funds raised on Pozible will be sent to Chalkboard Kenya.
I will be funding my flights, visa and immunisations by myself.
The Challenges
This project will be challenging! I will be living in the orphange 24/7 and will head straight back to Australia to start teaching in 2017.
I believe that I can overcome these obstacles by ensuring that I prepare myself metally and physically!
