Many of you know Damian Griffin as the tireless helper-outerer, the last one left cleaning, the first one to lend a hand. This year, as a surprise for his birthday, I wanted to give him something back by recording a few of his major pieces, that he's never had a chance to get recorded.
My name is Cameron Lam, I'm Damian's flatmate and friend of many, many years and I run a small production company in my spare time. I'm teaming up with some amazing musicians to get this organised, in fact we're beginning the first project now. But we'd love everyone to chip in to help cover costs and join us in giving Damian something amazing to remember this year.
The first piece we'd like to tackle is Damian's string quartet, "Chamber Music and Ten-pin Bowling" inspired by J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and in particular by one Albus Dumbledore. The first target (our $2500) covers the recording and mastering of this 30-minute piece.
The second piece I'd really love to record is Damian's choral suite "Transport", a hilarious and inventive piece based on Sydney's various public transport options, with lovingly transcribed canons of "The next train to arrive on platform 1 is...". Transport is one of my personal favourites out of all of Damian's works and I've been bugging him to get it performed and recorded for YEARS. If we exceed our target, all of the funds raised go towards rehearsing and recording this piece WITH Damian after his birthday, I know he'll get a kick out of hearing the piece slowly come together.

How The Funds Will Be Used
The funding goal ($2500) covers the cost of musicians for rehearsals and the recording the 30 minute string quartet, the sound engineer for recording and mastering, and space hire for the recording itself.
Any funds over the funding goal with go towards recording "Transport" which will cost between $2500-$3000 for the 40 minute choral work.

The Challenges
We're running to a pretty strict deadline, so we've got the string quartet rehearsing already, but we're aiming to record on 20th so I can be ready for Damian's birthday.
