FINAL HOURS - LAST CHANCE TO PLEDGE!

We're closing out 2012 with a bang! Thanks to everybody who has given so generously and pushed us well beyond our target goal. Every extra dollar we receive goes directly to making "What a Gun" the best film it can be. If you've been thinking about supporting us, time is running out!

###

'What a Gun' is a quirky romantic comedy about a lovable but mildly unhinged 20-something, Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Brown. Bernie works as a mail clerk for glossy magazine SHOCKA, but she's really a talented artist who just can't get her arse into gear. She wants people to take her seriously but they tend to dismiss her as a dumb blonde. Bernie is on a mission to nab the man of her dreams - Adam. He is everything she wants: successful, confident and in control. If only she could calm down and focus, she might just see Adam is in love with her too!

Bernie is a daydreamer and hopeless romantic. She loves fashion, France, the medieval and of course her faithful companion; a talking dog called Bourke. Bourke tries to keep Bernie in line, but her fantasies always take over. This is not your typical rom-com; Bernie's imagination is the sort guys will enjoy as much as girls. Estimate run time is 20-25 minutes. Starring Genevieve Brock and Mr Berkeley, 'What A Gun' will be released as a short film / TV pilot. If successful, a six episode season is planned to continue the adventures of Bernie and Bourke.

THE BUDGET:
We have a hardworking team of about a dozen who believe in this project. All cast and crew are giving their time voluntarily, and we hope to begin filming mid January. Over the past two months, we have been selling fundraiser chocolates. We're proud to have made enough so far to shoot our pitch video above, and also give us a head start on the film. Unfortunately we can't sell enough chocolate to pay for everything - we need your help! Our pozible goal is to cover the cost of production and basic distribution. Roughly 60% of our budget is specifically for production costs; such as props, costumes, locations, insurance and additional equipment. About 40% is to make sure ‘What a Gun’ gets seen by more than our Mums and Dads. It will cover our premiere, entry into local festivals, online promotions and DVDs.

IF WE EXCEED OUR GOAL:
We currently do not have budget for post-production. Dingo Cross Films can complete post without additional funding, however we would love to source local artists and pay royalty fees to get an awesome soundtrack for 'What a Gun'. Should we exceed our goal by a LOT (oh happy day!) we can further promote and distribute our work. We'll also try our luck at bigger, international festivals that can be a little pricier to enter!

ABOUT THE TEAM:

Previously known as FixedPoint Productions, Dingo Cross Films was created in 2005 by filmmakers Paul Puccio, Cassie Dart and one loyal canine, Mr Berkeley. Over the years we have made a variety of short films that have screened at festivals in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. We believe a collaborative approach is best, and make many co-productions with other filmmakers.

Dingo Cross Films Producers:
CASSIE DART - Writer / Director

Now: Cassie has spent the last decade involved in film, television and theatre. She loves all things comedy – the more inappropriate the better – and is annoyingly devoted to fantasy and science fiction, largely due to being raised on a diet of Star Trek and bad '80s SFX as a child. She works as a producer for the Nine Network, and so far her debts are going okay too!
Before: In the past Cassie scrounged pennies as an actor, kid’s entertainer, charity advocate, salesperson, kitchen hand, English tutor, consulting spell craft witch, floppy disc copier (amazing that didn’t last) and a smat of other odd jobs before deciding indie filmmaking was a far more sensible course of action.
Later: Cassie wants to travel the world, buy a car less than 20 years old and publish her children’s fantasy novel whether the little sugarplums like it or not. She has also written several feature length scripts with the goal to ‘get serious’ before she hits 30, but every time she writes END CREDITS she realises, “crap, I need a million bucks.”

PAUL PUCCIO - Director of Photography

Now:
Paul considers himself a colander which all media passes through. He lives behind cameras, in front of computers, and in between TV shows. Paul consumes comedy and SF for sustenance, much of it supplied by his job encoding Madman Entertainment's new release schedule. Paul sometimes has a koala for a face.
Before: Back in early 1985 Paul did none of the above, due to his lack of birth. Later though, Paul began to devour films and video games on a daily basis. He did this while working at the Pancake Parlour (expensive!) and Channel 9 (cheap!) before finding Madman (just right!)
Later: Paul's stomach growls as Cassie finally calls "Cut!" He runs across to the catering table, but Vin Diesel has already taken all the best sandwiches. Holding back a curse, Paul remembers this is the career he wanted. "Tomorrow I'll be quicker..."

Associate Producers of "What A Gun":

GENEVIEVE BROCK - "Bernie Brown"

Now: Genevieve has a unique career that combines two great loves: acting and working out. About a decade ago she threw two personalities in the ring, and the fight was so evenly matched the pair meshed to form 'Brocky Balboa'. On quiet nights she enjoys reading leather bound books over egg whites and flexing her abs in time to 'Eye of the Tiger'. She will wrestle for cash, but can't guarantee you'll win.
Before: Gen has acted in commercials, short and feature films. She has also done television fitness presenting and sports modelling. In the past she trained as an amateur boxer, and has worked as a personal trainer for over seven years. But Gen wasn't always a fitness and nutrition freak, one of her first jobs was Baker's Delight, but now she avoids gluten like the plague.
Later: Gen fantasies about breaking into Hollywood; likely via skydive as she lands atop Jason Statham. Sadly Jason makes the ultimate sacrifice to cushion her fall, but his producers see a female lead is a far better idea anyway, so Gen carries on filming to honour his memory. Gen is also writing her own comedy series, acquiring more Nike sportswear than Usain Bolt, and of course, plans to marry Ryan Gosling.

VANESSA CAMMAROTO

Now: Don’t let her habits to go without sleep or cast no reflection fool you, Vanessa is just your average, run of the mill office girl (and we shan't be telling the authorities otherwise). Sure working in Resources & Logistics at the Nine Network SEEMS dry as a water cracker, but she negotiates all the practicals of showbiz - remember the cast of Hey Hey? My point exactly.
Before: Ness has always been passionate about film and television. Inspired to re-enact a scene from Anchorman, she started out as a freelance autocue operator, but recently bit the bullet and decided the prospect of marriage and debt might mean a 9 to 5 grind was in order!
Later: Ness is determined to work across all aspects of entertainment and broaden her expertise. She believes in doing a job she loves so much, that it never feels like work. She plans to travel the world, and if Joss Whedon does have a gap in his schedule, she would be delighted to see him as soon as she gets out of the tub.

MARLANE GHMED

Now: Marlane has spent 8 years working in television, producing short films, TVC’s and other fun stuff she doesn’t really consider work! Nothing makes her happier than watching good films and TV. She currently works at Millionaire Hot Seat as Production Coordinator, but spends most of her day fantasising about her wedding to Ryan Gosling (sorry Genevieve, Marlane saw him first).
Before: She spent a lot of time running and managing small businesses while trying to make her University classes on time. Several years, and many bizarre films later, Marlane graduated with a Bachelor of Media Studies. She is yet to open the cute little tube thing they gave her degree in, wanting to save sealed graduate air to one day throw in the face of the people who doubted her.
Later: Marlane loves money, and plans to make lots of it producing blockbuster films. Respect will come from making independent films. In her spare time, Marlane plans to save the world, adopt a baby elephant and travel. She has also decided her and Martin Scorsese will be best friends, and Gary Oldman is scheduled for a surprise bum squeeze as well.
