Mic Conway's National Junk Band :78
Now, it is Mic's dream to make his very own 78rpm record. He and the National Junk Band have written a bunch of new songs for their next album - to be called "Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe". AND they hope to be able to put "That Old Time Music Sound" on the A Side of an accompanying 78.
"How can I hear this 78?", I hear you ask ... Via the marvels of modern science, the record will have a 78rpm scratch on one side, but the B Side will play as a regular 45rpm featuring two songs.
We need your help to make this dream a reality. For your kind support, we are offering you a swag of bizarre rewards and collectables to choose from!
Scroll down to the $60 Reward to find the 78 record, as well as other goodies like: a house concert just for you, Mic's ukulele, Captain Matchbox t-shirts, and a Golden Ticket giving you free entry to any National Junk Band show, for life!
The Challenges
If we don't reach our goal in this crowd-funding campaign, we won't be able to make our dream of a 78 record a reality, but life and junk band art and music will go on.
As Mic reminds us, "What happened to the magician who fell off the stage? ... He shattered his illusions."
Some words from MIC CONWAY :
"It's been five years since the last album from the National Junk Band, and I believe that this is my finest vocal performance, some of my best lyrics and the most musically brilliant recording I've ever been involved in. It is keeping the spirit of Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band, but taking it several steps further. I can now happily drop dead!
In 1970, Captain Matchbox played their first gigs in Sydney at the legendary Yellow House in Kings Cross, created by Martin Sharp. A single week of living and playing there changed my life forever.
Since then, I have had a connection with Martin through Tiny Tim, Luna Park and more recently singing and playing ukulele for him at his sick bed in the final weeks of his life.
He loved the concept for the new album "Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe", and thought one of his prints would suit the cover. We are very privileged to have "Art Galaxy" as cover art. The album is dedicated to Martin."
