Reclaim The Streets is a series of protest festivals that have been held worldwide in various forms, countering car culture and excessive privatisation of public space. In Sydney RTS has been active since the '90s, countering unnecessary road projects and shady government deals.

Since 2014 RTS has re-emerged from a brief hiatus to protest the destructive and wasteful Westconnex project. Recently we have also protested NSW's maligned lockout laws, and the heavy handed approach authorities take towards the culture and nightlife of Sydney. In March we danced from town hall to the Star Casino to highlight the influence of big money and the exclusion of the casinos from the lockouts. There were over 15 sound systems and 5,000 people in attendance.

This time around we are targeting this city and state's propensity to favour the rich and further inequality. It's time for an equitable, people-first approach to development, infrastructure and drafting of new laws.

Although much of the event is covered simply by community effort and volunteers, we have many small costs here and there to keep events running. They add up. The funds raised here will cover future costs at coming RTS events and partially cover the previous . Some of these costs include

- First aid

- Banners and bunting

- Promotional material, stickers, posters etc...

- Fun stuff and kids entertainment

- Water and supplies for volunteer marshals

$1000 will get us somewhere, but any further and we can just make things bigger and better. Thank you for your support!

Our main challenge is to ensure that our events are inclusive, diverse, safe and fun and well promoted. We want to encourage this by allowing for a range of activities, promote widely, provide first-aid and a safe well organised space.
