SYNOPSIS

Jane's rudderless life seems to find direction only in her role as babysitter to a 10-year-old boy named Bobby. Substituting the motherless family's issues in place of dealing with her own, Jane, Bobby and Bobby's father Frank form an unlikely co-dependence between one another. As the family suffers under the weight of its own struggles, Jane's exceedingly destructive behaviour threatens to tear the trio apart.

KEY CREATIVES!

WRITER/CREATOR/'JANE' Charly Thorn

Charly is a graduate of Sixteenth Street Actors Studio. Charly's first onscreen role came in the form of a rather violent young woman in Jaime Snyder's lauded short film 'Violent Florence' which had a very successful run through the festival circuit, screening at South by Southwest and the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2014. Charly has since worked frequently with prolific Melbourne production companies 'Exit Films' and 'Oh Yeah Wow'.
In 2017 Charly was awarded 'Best Actress' at the New Renaissance Film Festival in Amsterdam for her work in Dejan Mrkic's short film 'Silence'. The film also recieved an Australian Directors Guild nomination.
'Sitting Still' is Charly's writing debut. She has several pairs of flared pants and an award winning attitude.

DIRECTOR/PRODUCER Jacintho Muinos

Jacintho Muinos is a Melbourne based filmmaker who, following his time at the VCA, has focused on writing and directing narrative fiction. Jacintho is an award winning filmmaker who's films have screened at film festivals both domestically and internationally. His short film 'Cake' screened at the MQFF, Frameline and was awarded 'Best Short Film' at Lorne Film Festival. He's a real go-getter and doesn't mind the odd slice of cheese.

THE HUMAN CAST:

'FRANK' Roy Barker

Roy's a bloody sweetheart. Look at him! Roy's desire to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor saw him dive into study as a mature student. He has been mentored by internationally acclaimed master-teachers such as Larry Moss, the late Elizabeth Kemp, and Ian Rickson.
In film and television Roy has appeared in 'The Dressmaker', 'Winners and Losers', 'Seven Types of Ambiguity' and 'Utopia'. Roy's many theatre credits include an international tour with the Australian International Opera Company performing the plays of Shakespeare, and he has recently completed a very successful season at Melbourne's Pop Up Globe.

'BOBBY' Benji Mazzone

Benji is an exceptionally gifted young actor. He recently starred in Melanie Scammel's short film 'Rat Cage', and featured in Robert Muinos' music video for his song 'Weeks at All', under the direction of Jacintho Muinos.
Benji is already making tracks, frequently auditioning for American film and television projects. Benji plays in a family band and has a very baller Adidas tracksuit.

'MARTY' Charles Grounds

Sweet Charles is one of Melbourne's most promising up and coming actors. He started professionally in 2012 when he was scouted by Melbourne Theatre Company to play a leading role in Angela Betzein's new Australian play 'Helicopter'. The following year he starred in the hit NBC american comedy 'Camp' which screened across the world. Charles' performance in 'Downriver' gained him rave reviews after it's success throughout the festival circuit, screening at Toronto International Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. He can soon be seen in the Warner Brothers' film 'Crazy Rich Asians'.

'HELEN' Bronwen Coleman

Bronwen has worked professionally in New York for over a decade, collaborating with many great artists including Phillip Seymour Hoffman and the Labyrinth Theater Company, Tony Award nominated director Leigh Silverman, and Academy Award nominated director Bennett Miller.
Bronwen's film and television credits include Bennett Miller's Oscar winning film 'Capote', 'Law and Order' and Australia's own 'Blue Heelers'.  At 25, Bronwen was made a life member of The Actors Studio. Bronwen teaches Lee Strasberg's method, so she's pretty good at making people cry.

Budget Overview

Please see our spiel in the previous section for a polite overview of things we need money for.

Potential Challenges

The main challenges we will face during the making of this project are restrictions of financial measures. Unfortunately there are undeniable costs associated with the production of screen projects, and while we are doing the best we can to keep those costs to a minimum, we still require a small budget to move forward and create our wonderful series.
