LAND SEA YOU ME will be a unique photographic essay of South Australia in 2016. It will encapsulate the spirit of the people and the romance of the landscapes. Inspired by the seafarers and story-tellers of old, I will capture the raw unbridled beauty of our coast and resilience, creativity and optimism of its citizens. I will continue the great tradition of South Australian artists questioning our place in the world through an ambitiously physical adventure and evocative imagery. I will take South Australia to the world through the eyes of an artist. I'll show the world the nooks rarely seen and the crannies rarely shown and inspire people to get out there and explore.

Join me on the road as I traverse the length of our coastline and scale the heights of the soul of South Australia, by bike, camera in hand. 

For 6 months, camping every night, waiting for light, I will capture the LAND SEA YOU ME. I document the road, the surf, the people, places, spaces and all that makes the state of South Australia truly unique. My insights will be accentuated by being on the bike. I will see, smell, feel and experience on a bike what can be missed travelling in a vehicle. Combining my love and respect for the ocean, surf, adventure, cycling, tourism and my profession as a photographer, the trip will be a gruelling test of the relationship that I share with South Australia. It will challenge me both physically and his psychologically. Day in and day out it will stretch my photographic work. I will have all of my photographic, camping and living equipment on board the bike. These will be days stripped to the essentials: sleeping, eating, cycling and photographing. I will live- blog the entire trip via my website, Instagram, Facebook and blog.

The funds will be used for essential equipment, logistical, communication and material support on the road for both myself and my support team. Once the adventure has been completed funds will also contribute to the publication of the LAND SEA YOU ME book and hosting of the touring exhibition. Venue hire, travel and materials for the exhibtion will also be covered by this campaign. We have self-funded a substantial portion of LAND SEA YOU ME and a variety of sponsors have come on board with equipment and in-kind support, but there still exists a large gap. 

The challenges for LAND SEA YOU ME are many and varied, from the physical journey of 5000km to the isolation of 6 months solo in the saddle. From the natural to the built environment, long-haul touring has its own unique challenges. I will be extremely well supported by my partner and daughter who will be my support team and producer. There also exist many challenges in the editing, publication and distribution of the book, as well as touring the exhibition. I have a strong and experienced team of artists and professionals willing to help make LAND SEA YOU ME  a reality.
