About the Project:
Second Chance is a 10 minute animated short film written and directed by Chris Busuttil and produced by animation studio Iluzija (Illusion).

Second Chance is about Edmund, a forty-eight year old hitman who dedicated thirty years of his life killing people for a living. Now retired, he battles the demons of his past only finding comfort with the Bible, cigarettes and a fine bottle of scotch.
His biggest struggle isn’t dealing with his past actions, but the present and future, his place in society and his connection with a little girl who lives down the road.
Why should you contribute to the project?
Second Chance is a unique story, using the traditional Disney inspired 2D pencil and paper animation with a black/white and colour finish. The concept of the story has been in development for 12 months and has a talented and dedicated team on board who are willing to make it great.
See below for initial character concept artwork for the film by Dylan Shearsby http://www.dylansketchbook.com/

Crowd funding websites like ‘Pozible’ make it possible for creative imaginations of artists and filmmakers of all kind to come to life. Without your help, my film and my story will not be shown to the world.
How will your donation contribute?
Animation is a pain staking labour intensive art form taking many hours to produce each second of animation. Your donations will go towards:
·
To the deserving animation studio Iluzija who will be using traditional
hand drawn pencil (Disney inspired) techniques of animation. An estimated 50,000 individual drawings to be done.
· Our talented voice actors who will bring these characters to life
· The sound design, which will bring all components together and polish the final film.
Once the film is made:
Festivals and more festivals! This film will be submitted to a heap of local and international festivals. I think this is a film that people will enjoy and I want as many people to see it as possible.
The people who are making this film:
Chris Busuttil – Writer/Director
Chris graduated from film school in 2008, his final short film ‘Faces of
Death’ won ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Editing’ at his graduation screening and was screened
in the local and international festival circuit.
Since graduating, he has dedicated much of his time writing and developing commercial concepts. In 2010 he was the winner of the TAC (Transport Accident Commission) MAFMAD competition, a competition that encourages young filmmakers to submit an idea for a road safety short film. His winning entrant was one of 400 entries. The film ‘What’s on your mind?’ premiered in cinemas in 2011, had screenings on MTV and the opening night of 2011 St Kilda Film Festival at the Palais Theatre.
The film can be seen on the TAC YouTube channel here:

Today he continues writing and developing ideas for both long and short
forms of film.
ILUZIJA – Animation studio
www.iluzija.org
ILUZIJA
(trans. Illusion), animation studio was founded in 2006 with goals of making
animated films, special effects and promoting animation among the youth, organising
seminars and courses.
Their work on animated feature film "Film Noir" (95 min. Easy E Productions, Wild Bunch distributor) screened in over 20 film festivals world-wide displaying the artistic talent and professionalism from Iluzija lead Nemanja Gavrilović and his crew. After the films completion his studio continued to grow and now works on children’s short animated films, commercials and other projects.
Their continued success led them to be part of a project for ID8 from the USA, an opportunity to work on a child animated series that had 70 episodes. They have recently expanded into a larger studio to cater for their staff and a school for animated film which has numerous workshops and lectures of animation.
Bob Knowles – Voice actor ‘Edmund’
Bob
Knowles is a professional voice artist and presenter who commenced his career
in the analog era. Blessed with “a good ear” and great vocal flexibility, Bob’s
voice has echoed around Australian homes for over 40 years delivering thousands
of messages from Coles, Ford ,Glad Wrap, K Mart, Lee Jeans, Levis, Myer, Samuel
Taylor and a host of other household names.
He has written and performed live “Doggerel Comment” in the Australian vernacular on a top rating radio program and delivered the “Whacky Weather” in the persona of a certain well known eccentric American scientist on another. Audio books, e-learning courses, animated characters, product demonstration videos, film narration and even music albums have featured his voice. Bob’s voice can also be heard as talking books, educational DVD’s and on many corporate DVD’s and video presentations. His work as an American cowboy for international agency Y & R was awarded a prestigious CLIO award in New York.
Bob derives continuing passion for the work through the anonymity of its nature. “To be a voice without a face or a name, is to be free to go wherever the script and the producer wants to take me.” He says.
