Durational Performance
I am seeking support of $4,500 to create live performances and a dance on film work as part of the international component of my Masters research, investigating ‘durational performance.’

Use of Funds
Producers in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and London have invited me to present my work and research in a global context.
The funding will go towards filming, performance costs, travel and accommodation in Paris and London. I have been offered accommodation by the producers in Berlin and Amsterdam.
The project will be documented online and will include daily postings on my blog site, which is linked to my facebook, vimeo and other social medias outlets. I will include the videos of the performances, interviews with artist, images and quotes. I will maintain the sites and provide a feedback forum. Contributors will be recognized for their support, unless they indicate otherwise.
I will complete my research in 2015, where I will present a durational performative experiment and theoretical analysis. This will contribute to a performance project in 2016, ready for touring.

Theory
My work and research examine the phenomena of a durational performance ranging from 12 minutes or 12 hours, where the body becomes a time‐based art object, through prolonged actions, as a way of deep immersion into the art form. I examine Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytical considerations of the subconscious and the pleasure principle, juxtaposed on Jacques Derrida’s notions of deconstruction and of the haunting specter, which resides in the ego.
The Benefits
The endurance of such a work underscores the value of durational arts practice, framed in a psychoanalytical and aesthetic perspective, centered towards engagement and interaction.
This project intends to provoke and entertain audiences through a longer, enduring performance experience, that enable us to reflect and critique our lifestyles, and have the capacity to influence our future behaviors.

Outcomes - A Four Stage Project
Stage one: Berlin 1 - 10 November
Dr Franz Anton Cramer a senior researcher from, Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT), in Berlin, has invited me to present my ideas and who will act as my international academic adviser for my research.
Through the link of HZT, I have been invited by the organiser, Florian Feigi, to perform a durational dance work at the Performer Stammtisch event, an experimental space presenting live performances from the international live art and performance art scene.
Stage two: Paris. 11 – 20 November
In Paris I will meet with Prof. Dr. Alkis Raftis, the President of the International Dance Committee, who recently invited me onto the dance board, for an opportunity to present my research for future forums and to establish an on‐line discussion forum.
Stage three: London. 21 – 29 November
I will collaborate with visual artist, Robert Mangion in London where we will film a film a
durational dance / art project at the Freud Museum. We have permission to film our time‐based art project in Freud’s’ London house, exploring the psychoanalytical aesthetics of our arts practice.
Stage four: Amsterdam – Australia. 1 ‐9 December
Producer, Richard Keldoulis from Club Church in Amsterdam, invited me to present a durational dance performance examining the embodiment and immersion of a durational act, and film my dance project at the club. Then returning to Australia on the 10th of December, adding the research findings to my Masters thesis.
